About us

Hjortholm is a children's home and youth home, as well as a school. A home for about 40 placed children and youths, as well as a school. We are 100 adults who work in residential groups, school, kitchen, office and outdoor areas.

We work at the ENTIRE HJORTHOLM aimed at creating an inclusive and developmental environment, where all children can thrive and develop. We are now looking for a committed and passionate nutrition assistant, cater or cook for our kitchen.

You will work in the kitchen together with a skilled colleague, it will be a close collaboration.

Your working hours will be on weekdays from morning to afternoon, though there may be some events during the year that can take place e.g. in the evening. The position can be full-time or 30 hours.

Responsibilities

• Planning and preparation of healthy and nutritious food for the children and adults at Hjortholm with a focus on diet, nutrition, taste and an attractive presentation – so everyone feels like tasting 😊
• Collaboration with colleagues (pedagogues and teachers) to ensure that meals support the children's needs and preferences.
• Cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen area in accordance with hygiene standards.
• Ensure that cooking follows the institution's diet policy and any allergens are taken into account.
• Participate in purchasing groceries and drafting meal plans.
• Contribute to a positive and engaging environment in the kitchen.

Job description

As a nutrition assistant, cater or cook at Hjortholm you will have a central role in our daily operations. You will be responsible for creating nourishing and tasty meals that promote health and well-being among our children and adults. You will work closely with both pedagogical and other staff to ensure that the food is not only nutritionally correct but also a pleasure for the children to eat. Your ability to create an inspiring and inclusive kitchen environment will be of decisive importance. Here the ceiling is high, room for good humor and space for you and your new ideas.

Qualifications

• Education as a nutrition assistant, cater or cook.
• Experience with cooking for children and young people, as well as knowledge of dietary guidance.
• Good collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults.
• Knowledge of hygiene rules and cleaning procedures in the kitchen.
• An empathetic and caring approach to working with vulnerable children.
