Would you like to help build a new English-language diploma engineering education in robotics? Are you passionate about developing a new program in close collaboration with capable and engaged colleagues, students and local companies? Then you may be the one we are looking for to support our students on the diploma engineering programs and at the continuing and further education in Automation and Operations.
At Absalon you will have the opportunity to combine your experience from robotics, automation or machinery with teaching. At the same time you will leave your professional imprint on the curriculum, laboratories and collaboration with industry.
Absalon will establish in September 2027 a new English-language diploma engineering program in robotics. The program focuses on integration of robotics and automation solutions and an understanding of the whole production system where the solution must be integrated. Diploma engineering program in robotics is closely linked with the diploma engineering program in mechanical engineering as well as the continuing and further education at academic level in Automation and Operations.
In the engineering programs it is our ambition to educate the best engineers in Denmark. We tailor our education to the labor market by closely collaborating with the Danish automation, mechanical and process industry as well as companies and other actors in Biotekbyen Kalundborg and in the Campus Kalundborg collaboration. Your profile
We are seeking an instructor who is passionate about educating within the border area between robotics, automation, production management and mechanical engineering. It is therefore important that you can recognize yourself in the following:
Skilled and motivating instructor,
who is engaged with the students. You contribute together with your colleagues to create an active, academic and social study environment. It is important that you can contribute positively to the close professional relationship we have between teachers and students.
Contribute to making the academic, practical and the collaboration work well.
We are more than a workplace, and you should, like us, be driven by a strong camaraderie and a shared professional interest. You will consult with your colleagues about your teaching, and together we find solutions to practical tasks.
You also easily engage in dialogue with companies, both regarding opportunities for continuing and further education and regarding collaboration with students on the diploma programs.
You want to join a working community and help establish a new education.
We are building and continuously developing our engineering programs, and a lot needs to be done for the first time. You will have a central role in describing and building the new education in robotics and automation. You will, among other things, help arrange and procure the right equipment for upcoming robotics and automation laboratories.
Your engineering professionalism comes into play
when you teach, advise and consult with colleagues within parts of the following areas
- Integration and programming of industrial robots, e.g. Universal robots, ABB, KUKA, FANUC
- Industry 4.0
- Siemens TIA-portal
- Industrial networks
- Vision systems and sensor technology
- Safety systems and cyber security
- CE marking and applicable standards for the field
- Integration of AI in robot and automation solutions
- PLC-, HMI- and SCADA solutions
- CAD and 3D printing
In addition we expect that you
- have a background as engineer, e.g. robotics/automation engineer, production engineer, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer or similar
- have relevant professional experience within the engineering profession
- can teach in English and preferably also in Danish
- are preferably evaluated as associate professor
- have insight into industry needs for engineering competencies within robotics and automation. Not a requirement, but advantageous.
Your duties
As a teacher on the diploma programs and in Automation and Operations you have a range of different tasks during a workweek.
Build an education.
You have an interest in playing a central role in establishing a new education in robotics and possibly have a coordinating role in describing the program, preparing a study plan, establishing student and company networks and procurement of equipment and laboratory setup. If you have experience with and interest in certain administrative tasks it would be an advantage.
Teach and supervise students in projects.
You shall primarily teach and supervise our students both theoretically and in laboratories and project-based within your subjects. You shall plan, implement and evaluate the teaching yourself. You shall also contribute to ongoing development of our teaching.
Teach in continuing education (EVU) and in basic education.
You shall teach students in full-time study as well as course participants with full-time work alongside their education in EVU. For EVU teaching there may also be tasks with outreach to companies and presentation of the educational offerings.
Professional collaboration as part of daily life.
You will become part of a professional community where you spar and collaborate with your colleagues. Together you ensure, for example, to design good teaching programs, develop teaching materials, and maybe there is an event attached to the center that needs to be arranged.
Teaching in the various programs will predominantly be at our Campus Kalundborg, but in EVU areas teaching may occur at Absalon’s campus in Roskilde. You should be prepared for some teaching to take place on weekends or evenings.
Your colleagues
You will be employed in the Centre for Engineering and Science, which runs the programs Bioanalyst, Radiographer, Diploma Engineer in Biotechnology, Diploma Engineer in Mechanical Engineering as well as continuing and further education Diploma in Biotechnology, Process Technology and Chemistry, Academy programs in Automation and Operation and Academy program in Innovation, Production and Production.
You will be part of a team with the educational manager, associate professors and lecturers. On our engineering programs in Kalundborg we are about 20 teaching staff. We are working to create the best engineering education in close collaboration with the biotechnology industry in Northwest Zealand, as well as our engaged students. We value high professionalism and solve tasks, as well as challenges in a community, where we all are aware of the importance of contributing to the community and to the center’s overall objectives.
We are located in a newly built campus building from 2021 and in the adjacent building Helix Lab. Absalon is also part of the Campus Kalundborg initiative, where we work closely with five other educational institutions, and from 2028 we will be part of a new joint Campus Kalundborg building.
