UngSlagelse seeks Deputy Head of the Youth School

As our current department head has chosen to retire, UngSlagelse is seeking as of January 1, 2027 a new department head, primarily for the youth school's full-time teaching and M-Ung, but also with tasks relating to the youth school's leisure department. The position includes managerial tasks and professional coordination tasks in the Full-time Department and M-Ung as well as a vice-youth school leader function in UngSlagelse.

You are responsible for personnel management as well as pedagogical and administrative leadership, while also having coordination tasks. The tasks are many – including visitation meetings and follow-up, professional sparring with teachers, holding team and coordinator meetings, parent contact, participation in various working groups etc., and entering into collaborative relations with schools, PPR, caseworkers, the Youth Unit, Language and Culture Department, among others.

We expect that you have experience with personnel management, including leadership of self-managing teams, familiarity with the youth school’s full-time teaching or the special needs area and work confidently in, among other things, TEA, eDoc, Aula and TOPAS. You are used to planning tasks such as task overviews, annual calendars, student administration, visitation procedures and other coordination – just as planning FP9 tests does not scare you.

You will work closely with the youth school leader and the department head/academic coordinator for leisure education, our administrative staff and the entire team of fantastic teachers.

An important focus is to establish and maintain good relations with the many actors, so that the operation and development of full-time education and M-Ung are secured. You must ensure and coordinate the efforts and the network around our students, as this is crucial for our students' success.

You will help to maintain and develop the identities of both Full-time Education and M-Ung in collaboration with our skilled teachers.

The Full-time Education (HU) is a special educational school offering for students in grades 8-10, who have diverse and complex challenges (diagnoses, school avoidance, etc.). Students are referred to the school form via PPR. HU consists of:

• Eventen, located at Hulby Møllegård, Slagelse Landevej 17, Korsør, normed for 20 students.
• K-Class, located at UngSlagelse, Sct. Pedersgade 18, 2nd floor, Slagelse, normed for 15 students.

M-Ung is an offer to recently arrived young refugees and immigrants aged 15-18. M-Ung is normed for 2 classes, each with 12 students, and is located at UngSlagelse, Sct. Pedersgade 18, 2nd floor in Slagelse. The overall purpose of the class is to learn Danish language and learn about Danish culture and societal conditions, including education and employment, thereby qualifying the students to complete a youth education.

In both departments the students are prepared for FP9 in Danish, Mathematics and English.

UngSlagelse's leisure department offers leisure education, study trips, intensive learning programs and much more to all the municipality's youths between 13 years/7th grade and 18 years. Read more at www.ungslagelse.dk .

Salary & employment terms

Employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, depending on your qualifications and after negotiations with the National Association of Youth School Leaders.
