About the job

We are seeking a vice principal with an overview, pedagogical insight and a willingness to take responsibility.

Can you create a sense of security in staff leadership, develop learning environments that include all children, and make the school's resources fit together? Then we would like to meet you.

Grønhøjskolen is seeking a vice principal with pedagogical insight, administrative strength, and a sense for detail. You will, together with us, create good conditions for teachers and pedagogues so they can succeed with the complex and difficult tasks – and with the easy and really fun ones.

A school with calm around it and movement inside

Grønhøjskolen lies in fine, quiet surroundings in the northern part of Randers Municipality. We have about 300 pupils in general classes and 20 pupils in special classes. The pupils in the special classes come from our own school and from other schools in the municipality.

We collaborate closely with Havndal School, whose pupils continue with us after 6th grade. Together we work for a good transition and a coherent school experience.

We are in the process of rethinking the organization of our special classes and resource teams. We want to better utilise staff competencies, create more participation opportunities for all children, and bring the special and general education areas closer together. Here you will have the opportunity to influence development and take responsibility for making the solutions work in daily life.

The most important tasks – which we of course can adapt and allocate differently within the team:

  • Leader who is clear and creates security. You listen, make decisions and follow up. Staff must know where they stand with you, even when something is difficult.
  • Administrative strength and meticulousness. You create an overview, keep track of documentation and agreements, and follow up tasks all the way through.
  • Ability to lead network meetings. You give space to different perspectives, keep focus on the child's schooling, and ensure clear agreements about who does what.
  • Pedagogical insight and experience in supporting pupils with diverse needs. You can together with teachers and pedagogues develop learning environments where all children have the opportunity to participate, learn and be part of the community. You translate knowledge about children’s needs into concrete solutions in the teaching.
  • Can plan teaching, task distribution and timetables with a solid sense for resources. You should be able to use hours and competencies wisely, make academically justified priorities, and explain the choices made.

Close collaboration – also quite literally

You share an office with Rune, our pedagogical leader, and me. Here there is a short path to sparring and joint problem solving. You should thrive with close collaboration and help create space for conversation, humor and working calm.

We have different roles and responsibilities, and we meet each other as equal colleagues. Teachers and pedagogues are the central adults in the children’s daily school life. As management, we must support their work, take responsibility for the framework, and help find solutions when tasks are difficult.

In the office you will also meet our secretaries, Malene and Heidi. Here your future colleagues introduce themselves:

Malene, secretary

An informal tone and close collaboration are important factors for me.

I thrive best with an open flow of information, as it helps me be the best help not only to the management but also to my remaining colleagues.

Heidi, secretary

I am a newly started secretary at the school and after 2 months I can already sense that the office here at the school hums with life. I greatly value the good dialogue and tone that exists among everyone. The keywords for me in my work are structure, clear communication, trust and recognition – all of which I place high importance on in my daily work and strive to contribute with every day.

Rune, pedagogical leader

I believe we succeed best when we help each other, take responsibility for the community and create space for everyone to develop. I value good professional sparring, room for a good laugh and that we all make an effort to create a good school.

Mette Gudum, school leader

I have been school leader here for eight years and have previously worked as a leader at VUC, UU-counselor, and DSA-teacher and -counselor. I value an informal tone and humor in everyday life and take the tasks seriously when the situation requires it. Collaboration, community and mutual respect weigh heavily with me.

Before you write: Come and visit us

We expect you to visit the school before applying. You should experience the place, meet us, and have the opportunity to explore whether the job and the workplace fit you.

We are happy to tell you about both what works and what we are still working on. Ask about our collaboration, our priorities, and the tasks that require something from us. Critical questions are also welcome.

Contact Mette Gudum at [email protected] or call the school's office at 89 15 46 60 to arrange a visit. If you are unable to visit us before the application deadline, contact us so we can arrange another opportunity for dialogue.

A short application with something concrete

You do not need to tell us that your values align perfectly with ours. We would rather hear about experiences that show how you can solve the tasks we have described.

Send your CV and a very short application.

Choose one or two concrete examples from your professional life and briefly tell

  • What was the task or situation?
  • What did you do, and what came of it?
  • How can you bring that experience into play as vice principal with us?

Also briefly explain which of the position's tasks you will especially develop yourself in.

Write simply and in your own words. We are interested in your actions, your reflections and what you have learned.

In the interview we will start from a short case from the school’s everyday life. It gives us the opportunity to talk about how you balance the children’s needs, the staff’s working conditions and the resources available.
