About Væksthuset S/I

We are a small nonprofit self-governing institution with 2 departments located in Thyregod.

At each department there are 7 residents aged 22-37 years.

We provide social-pedagogical support to adults with mental functional impairments and work purposefully with structure, well-being and development.

Væksthuset S/I is a residential facility with a safe, homely and cozy atmosphere. We are a place where there is time for the core task – namely to provide professional care and pedagogical support to our wonderful residents.

We meet the residents with respect and equality and are always very conscious of the fact that we enter the residents’ home when we come to work.

Our pedagogical foundation and approaches

We base our work on neuro-pedagogical principles and work pedagogically with each individual's resources, sensory impressions, predictability, clear structures, visual support systems, calm transitions and communication tailored to the individual. We view behavior as communication that we must understand and respond to.

We work narratively and aim to strengthen residents’ identity and self-understanding through positive stories. We start from the individual’s resources and work with externalization as a tool to illuminate possible issues.

Community is not just something we talk about — it is something we practice every day. This means that we eat together, do activities together, solve tasks together, and go on trips and holidays together. The community creates security, relationships and a sense of belonging. It gives residents the opportunity to practice social skills, participate in meaningful activities and be part of something bigger.

We are looking for a staff member who

• Has relevant education; SSA, pedagogue or pedagogical assistant.
• Can give a hug to the residents.
• Can work in mixed shifts, day-evening and every 3rd weekend.
• Can administer medication – or wishes to learn how to do it.
• Is prepared to assist with personal hygiene.
• Can follow the residents’ structures and create calm and predictability.
• Actively participates in the pedagogical work.
• Works affirmatively and professionally with residents, relatives and colleagues.
• Can perform professional documentation.
• Is stable, flexible and responsible.
• Has a driving license (Category B) and a desire to drive both car and minibus.
