About the job

Do you want to help build a new department up? We are seeking an engaged and skilled special education teacher who enjoys developing and creating structures and frameworks for our new students. You may very well have a bit of pioneer spirit, as there is a lot of new. Your ideas are important, and you will be involved in building a new team.

In the beginning, it will be you and an educator and you will also have an assistant attached.

The student group currently consists of 2 students in 1st and 3rd grade but is expected to grow with more students. The students have autism and significant language challenges. Therefore you must be good at teaching in different ways and adapting to requirements.

If you know a teacher or a helper you work very well with, and who is also passionate about creating a good school and well-being for children, you are welcome to apply for the positions as a team. There are always a minimum of two adults present in all lessons.

It is important that you have understanding for and find it meaningful to work with children who are academically, emotionally and socially challenged. You meet children with relational competence with presence, curiosity and openness, and can balance structure and predictability with flexibility and adaptations. You are able to plan and implement a practice-oriented, motivating and often alternative instruction tailored to the individual's needs. You are skilled in autism pedagogy and children with language difficulties.

And you have a positive and constructive approach to building a new department. There can be plenty of bumps along the way and things that do not work, but there is high spirits and high ceilings, and we solve the task together. Your ideas are decisive, the task is academically developmental and our mindset is "we will figure it out together".

We need you to thrive in a small independent environment – initially only with two children and a small team – in an independent building at Herfølge School, where we currently have rooms. Holmehus Special School is a couple of kilometers away.

The team has scheduled weekly meetings and receives ongoing supervision, so there are good conditions for professional sparring, development and well-being.

We work closely with PPR and with the pupils in the communicative, physical and psychological space. We have a motor room and work sensorimotorically.

Our uncompromising view of humanity is that "children do the best they can" – and that is the driving force in our work every day.

We use low arousal and mentalization, as a part of daily interaction with the students.

In Køge Municipality there is a negotiated working time agreement with 0.5 as a preparation factor.

We are very focused, together, on creating a fantastic workplace, which among other things requires influence, engagement and a good working environment.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the agreement between KL and DLF. We have a local agreement with time for all tasks and obligation to be present during the scheduled teaching time and at meetings, as well as in the week after the summer holidays.

If you want to know more about the position and possibly arrange a visit to the school, you can contact the school principal Corinna Hansen at tel. 23130194.

Application deadline is 16 November 2026.

Commencement no later than 1 January 2027.

We conduct recruitment interviews on an ongoing basis.

If you are hired for the position, a children's certificate and a criminal record check will be obtained.

We prefer that you send your application online. Click "Search for the position" and attach your application and CV.
