About the job

Are you the type who feels especially glad when 2 workdays are never the same? And do you like having many good colleagues and meeting all kinds of people in your professional work? Then a job with us is just for you.

Our acute unit consists of the psychiatric acute reception (PAM), psychiatric acute reception intensive (PAMI) - which in total is 22 beds. In addition you will also join our acute team, which ensures rapid outpatient follow-up.

"Part of the best things about the job is the professional freedom. I have the opportunity to make independent social-work assessments and use my professional expertise to find the solution that makes the most sense for the individual patient. There is trust in my assessments, and space to make individual assessments and solutions rather than finding standard solutions." – Michelle social worker PAM

In the psychiatric acute unit in Slagelse, we have departments where colleagues make each other look good and high ambitions to continually improve our work.

You will have a close sparring partner in our current social worker in the acute unit, with whom you together will allocate and solve the tasks on a daily basis. In addition you will have to engage in close collaboration with the other bed unit's social workers – so you will have good opportunities for collegial sparring.

Your tasks and areas of responsibility

  • To uncover the patient's social conditions and support and ensure acute social-work interventions and contribute with relevant knowledge about legislation and social services to your health care colleagues
  • To coordinate and support collaboration with external and internal partners, including planning and holding networking meetings
  • To support the preparation of legally required discharge agreements/coordination plans

Qualifications

  • Education as a social worker.
  • Has experience with and interest in psychiatry and working with people in vulnerable life situations – preferably with experience with authorities case handlers within the specialized adult sector.
  • Has knowledge of relevant social and employment legislation, the Health Act, the Psychiatric Act etc.
  • Can make independent social-work assessments and translate them into concrete actions.
  • Has experience with and interest in coordinating complex pathways across sectors.
  • Has an understanding of the connection between mental illness, social conditions and the patient’s overall life situation.
  • Can build constructive collaborative relationships with patients, relatives, municipalities, residential facilities and other partners.
  • Can contribute social-work knowledge in a interdisciplinary environment and thrives on applying your profession.
  • Enjoys working independently and taking professional responsibility within one's own role.
  • Has good written and oral communication skills.

„When I introduce myself to a patient, I usually say that my role is to help with contact outside the department; it could be with the municipality or other partners if support after discharge is needed. For me, this describes very well what is special about the job. I am employed to help the patient. Period. My task is to create an overview, advise, coordinate with relevant partners and help ensure that there is a plan and the necessary support in place when the patient is discharged.” – Michelle social worker PAM
