Substitutes sought (full-time and on-call) for the Red Cross Women's Shelter

We are looking for two staff members who would like to be fixed weekend employees in even weeks, as well as 1-2 on-call substitutes for day, evening and night shifts.

Currently we have two vacant positions as fixed weekend staff in the department called Main Shelter.

Position 1: Day shift Saturday and Sunday 7:00-15:00 in even weeks (odd weeks from 2027).

Position 2: Evening shift Saturday and Sunday 14:30-22:30 in even weeks (odd weeks from 2027).

We are looking for someone who both has an interest and preferably experience with the target group. You should have an empathetic approach to the residents, but at the same time be able to set requirements and boundaries for behavior and stay. There is no requirement that you are trained in the field, but you must work professionally in relations with very vulnerable women. You must be prepared to be available and visible as well as provide the necessary care to the residents on weekends.

You must thrive with working at the times when fixed staff and management are not in the house and have a desire to cooperate closely with the shelter's voluntary staff.

Your primary tasks include

• Work to create a safe and cozy environment in the house – with respect for each person's life situation.
• Hold care conversations, perform active relationship work, both with the individual resident and in the common room, and be available for residents in acute and difficult situations.
• Prevent and resolve conflicts.
• Observe residents with concern about too high intake/ harmful use of substances.
• Call on medical on-call, ambulance, or police if necessary.
• Provide physical and psychological first aid.
• Document in the electronic journal system.
• Keep yourself informed about work routines and the general situation at the shelter.
• Carry out practical tasks, such as keeping common areas tidy.
• Prepare dinner with/for the residents.
• And tidying up, light cleaning, laundry as well as cleaning in sudden situations

About the Red Cross Shelter for Women

The Red Cross Shelter for Women is an independent institution and a temporary housing facility under the Social Services Act §110. Red Cross Capital and the Capital Region cooperate in the operation of the shelter. There are 27 overnight places distributed across two departments; Main Shelter and UNG.

The target group at the Red Cross Shelter for Women is people aged 18+ who identify as women and are in acute or functional homelessness. Additionally, there must be a need for housing training, social-pedagogical support and stabilization. It is allowed for the target group to have an addiction and be under the influence. However, it is not permitted to consume or store drugs or alcohol on the premises.

Salary: According to the applicable collective agreement – supervising assistant
