About the job

We are seeking a treatment nurse – or you who wish to become a treatment nurse – for our orthopedic surgical specialty, so if you are professionally ambitious, good at the relational aspects, and thrive best when you are allowed to use the full range of nursing, then we have exactly the position you are looking for.

We are a large orthopedic surgical team across the Emergency Department at Herlev and the Emergency Clinic in Gentofte, where we have a high patient flow and – as you may have guessed – no two days are the same with us. If you thrive in the acute area, and can join our ambition to create the best patient pathways in the best working environment, we offer an exciting and meaningful position where you have every conceivable opportunity to become a nurse of the highest order.

With us, patients arrive both through the main entrance and the ambulance yard, and we receive everything from stable self-referrers to critically ill patients. Most of them share one thing: in this context, we are their first encounter with the hospital system, and that places demands on you when you observe, prioritize and make decisions about care and treatment.

Therefore we are looking for you who

  • are trained as a treatment nurse or have a strong desire to become one.
  • are keen to be involved in the patient’s acute phase and shape the patient’s meeting with the hospital in a positive, professional and efficient manner, where care and communication are fundamental prerequisites.
  • are curious and wish to work with multiple surgical specialties and find the complexity of the different specialties interesting.
  • take initiative for your own learning and reflect on your own practice.
  • have the will to work independently, but also to participate in a multidisciplinary team with a view to a good patient journey.
  • have good communication and pedagogical skills, and approach tasks with positivity.

You are expected and welcome

When you start with us, we will guide you through a well-planned process where you are introduced to the workplace and your colleagues. It is important for both you and us that you get a really good start, and therefore we tailor your onboarding based on your wishes and with an eye to what you bring with you in your backpacks.

From the start you will be assigned a mentor who, together with you, plans your training, and in the first 4 to 6 weeks you are therefore not part of the normalization.

The first year of your employment you will, alongside your employment, undergo a manageable training program where you, together with other newly employed colleagues, train in proper discharge planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, conflict management and much more.

Education and Development

We want to create the best patient pathways in the best working environment, and in that ambition it is, of course, a fundamental point that you have the opportunity to improve. Therefore we have interdisciplinary simulation training where we train together so we always stand well and safely in acute situations.

We also have fixed teaching and a structured competence and development program, so we can ensure that your development never stagnates. We also offer Acute Training to employees who meet the requirements.

A few practical details

We can offer permanent employment in a fixed position of 32 - 37 hours per week in mixed shifts as of December 1 or by agreement. Send us your application no later than October 25, 2026. Interviews will be held on October 27.

You should expect 10-12 shifts on a 4-week plan and a weekend shift every 3rd weekend in 12-hour shifts. We can arrange an individual shift plan for you that takes your private life into account.

Note that upon employment you may work at both sites.

The position is not suitable for probationary employment.

Salary and terms follow the collective agreement for non-management staff within the Health Cartel area, entered into by the parties of the Health Cartel, including the Danish Nurses Association and the Regions’ Pay and Tariff Board.
