About the job
The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) is currently looking for several new student assistants for our case-handling offices and Citizen Service. With us you get a study-relevant job where from day one you use your skills in practice. You get a strong foundation for your future career and in-depth knowledge of the interaction between public administration and the political reality.
Your new workplace
In SIRI we ensure EU citizens easy and quick access to Denmark, and we handle applications for residence and work permits for foreigners who want to work or study in Denmark.
We are seeking student assistants for five offices, each of which plays a central role in the agency’s task handling. In the Budget Office, Business Office, Extension Office and Study Office you will get very close to the case handling of residence and work permits, while in Citizen Service you will help greet the citizens and businesses that contact us.
Whichever office you land in, we can guarantee that you will have meaningful tasks in a high political area, and you will become part of a professional workplace with approachable and competent colleagues who are available to help and provide sparring.
At SIRI we work with our strategy and core tasks in mind. We have a strategy house that describes our vision and mission as well as the foundation for our way of working. Read more about us, our strategy and our different offices here. In SIRI, digitalisation is an important part of our daily work. We work with new technological possibilities e.g. AI to strengthen efficient and secure case processing and create value for citizens, businesses and employees.
Your tasks as a student assistant
In the case-handling offices
You will join a student team with other student colleagues and a student coordinator, where you will solve tasks across the office’s areas of expertise. Here you will both take responsibility for your own tasks and solve tasks in collaboration with the office’s other students and colleagues.
As a student assistant in our case-handling offices you will have the opportunity to develop your competences and work with concrete case processing as well as other administrative tasks such as handling access-to-information requests and responding to citizen inquiries both in writing and by phone.
In Citizen Service
Citizen Service is the users’ entry to the agency, and we are a central office that helps ensure that the rest of the house can start or continue their case processing of, among other things, applications for residence permits. You will as our new colleague either become part of Citizen Service in Valby or in the Start Center.
In the Citizens Center you will have direct contact with citizens, and your tasks will include, among other things, to:
- receive and process applications for EU citizens’ right of residence
- receive applications and take biometrics in the foreigners area
- provide guidance in both EU and immigration matters
In the Start Center you will perform administrative citizen-oriented tasks, which will include, among other things, to:
- forward files to and handle inquiries from the Danish Countryside? No—Udlændingenævnet
- handle inquiries from the Danish Immigration Service when a foreign national applies for permanent residence in Denmark
- set up concrete foreigner cases and respond to inquiries from users
Our expectations of you
We expect that you are currently pursuing a relevant higher education, e.g. LLM, political science, or another relevant education such as political science, public administration or social sciences at Roskilde University (RUC). You have at least completed the first year of your studies, and it is an advantage if you have more than one year left of your studies. You thrive on being challenged and developing yourself both professionally and personally.
We expect that you
- work independently after training and at the same time contribute proactively to the team
- are comfortable with administrative tasks and have a sense of structure and overview
- are welcoming and collaborative
- communicate clearly and are service-minded
- are good at communicating in English, both orally and in writing
- can quickly get to grips with IT systems and programs such as Excel, Outlook, Public 360 and e-income
Further information
If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact Office Manager Maria Wenzel Sørensen at email [email protected] regarding the case-handling offices and Unit Chief Louise Vedel Ellborg at email [email protected] regarding Citizen Service.
Are you our new colleague?
We look forward to receiving a short motivated application, CV, transcript of records, etc. no later than 25 October 2026.
We expect to hold interviews in week 45.
Salary and employment terms
You will be employed in the Ministry of Immigration and Integration’s group under the OAO-S Collective Agreement and the HK collective agreement. You work 15 hours per week, and you must document that you are an active student enrolled at a higher education institution for the duration of your employment.
The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) will conduct a security check of your person, so we in the Ministry of Immigration and Integration can assess whether you are suitable for the position. You must continuously be able to pass a security check during your entire employment. You can read about how we process your personal data here.
