Youth Diaconal Assistant in Kolding

Are you passionate about diaconal work among young people and students? Do you want to help create inclusive communities and meeting places in one of the country’s largest deaneries? Then Kolding Provsti is seeking a cheerful, present, and action-oriented Youth Diaconal Assistant in a newly created position averaging 19 hours per week.

Kolding has many educational institutions, and the deanery aims to strengthen contact with young people — especially students — through a collaboration between a student pastor (quota 50) and a Youth Diaconal Assistant (19 hours per week). The partnership has a clear diaconal focus aimed at the needs of the young.

The student pastor, Cæcilie Østergaard Knudstorp, took up the position in spring 2026 and also serves as a quota 50 parish priest in Vonsild Church.

The target group is young people aged roughly 16 to 30. A clear regulation for the position is being developed.

Kolding Provsti is one of the country’s largest deaneries with solid finances and a well-functioning collaboration between parishes.

Youth and Student Work in Kolding

Youth and student work takes place in an equal partnership between the student pastor and the Youth Diaconal Assistant, each contributing different tasks and competences.

Our aims for the work

• That young people meet with a view of humanity shaped by compassion and love.
• That young people experience that their value lies in who they are — not in what they do.
• That young people find space to be themselves and community.
• That young people are offered safe resource persons they can talk to about faith, existential questions and challenges in adolescence (e.g., loneliness, identity and grief).
• That the work is visible and welcoming and primarily meets the young at educational institutions in Kolding.
• That the work has a clear diaconal aim and creates inclusive communities and safe meeting spaces for young people and students.

The student pastor’s liturgical base is the Night Church, held once a month in Sankt Nicolai Church in collaboration with the Kolding Night Church volunteers and the Youth Diaconal Assistant.

The Youth Diaconal Assistant in Kolding

We want you as a Youth Diaconal Assistant to have ecclesiastical interest and to be able to meet young people openly and without prejudice — regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, etc. The position also requires that you can maintain confidentiality.

You have a relevant education and knowledge of and experience with youth audiences. We offer relevant further education and opportunities to participate in professional networks.

Collaboration with the student pastor is egalitarian and characterized by co-creation, and at the same time you have independent tasks, e.g.:

• Talk with young people at eye level about both big and small topics.
• Create inclusive communities and meeting spaces for young people in close collaboration with the student pastor.
• Be co-responsible for Night Church.
• Handle communications, social media, PR and practical tasks.
• Co-create with young volunteers and build a working group consisting of young people.
• Build a bridge between young people and the Church of Denmark in Kolding Provsti.
• Prepare budget and accounts for approval by the steering group and manage the finances in collaboration with the student pastor.
• Participate in relevant courses and networks for professional development.

There is a steering group that acts as an advisory partner and link between the work and the deanery’s parishes, ensuring a common understanding of purpose and significance.

The dean is the nearest supervisor in relation to employment terms, staff appraisals (MUS), APV, etc.

You will have an office in the Sankt Nicolai Church parish house, which includes a kitchen, interview room and meeting rooms — and which is also a shared meeting place and workplace for the collaboration between you and the student pastor. Løn- og ansættelsesvilkår Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the applicable joint agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10, as well as the collective agreement for church and culture workers, etc., and the accompanying protocol entered into between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and CO10. The position is covered by the applicable education requirements for church and culture workers. If you do not already meet the education requirement, the mandatory basic training must be completed within two years after the start of employment. See §§ 14 and 15 in Circular No. 10001 of 12/11/2019.

Current annual full-time salaries (current kroner)

Salary Group 1

(employees who have not yet met the education requirement)

• 350,435.40 kr. – 442,215.58 kr.

Salary Group 2

(employees who meet the education requirement or have completed the basic training)

• 367,122.01 kr. – 500,621.27 kr.

In addition, an OK24 allowance of 3,654.10 kr annually (current kroner) is paid.

The salary will be agreed within the relevant pay band. In addition, 18.4% pension contributions are paid to CO10 pension in PFA.

Note , that the amounts stated apply to a full-time position. Salary, OK24 allowance and any on-call allowance are calculated on a pro rata basis according to the position’s hours. Final salary placement is agreed between the parish council and Kirkekultur.nu.
