Coach

What does it mean?

A coach supports personal or professional development through guided dialogue, questioning and action planning. Career coaches help with job search strategy, interview preparation, leadership development and work-life balance.

Coaching is not therapy (which treats mental health) or consulting (where the expert advises on business problems). The coach helps you find your own solutions and accountability.

You may access coaching through your employer, a-kasse, outplacement services or private coaches. Some a-kasser offer free career coaching for members.

When choosing a coach, check credentials (e.g. ICF certification), experience in your field and chemistry in an initial conversation. Set clear goals and measurable outcomes for the coaching process.
