Skilled worker

What does it mean?

A skilled worker (faglært) has completed a recognised vocational education (erhvervsuddannelse) — typically combining school and apprenticeship — and holds journeyman or equivalent certification in a trade.

Skilled trades are in high demand in Denmark: construction, manufacturing, healthcare support, hospitality and technical services. Pay and conditions are often set by collective agreements with strong union coverage.

Recognition of foreign vocational qualifications may require assessment by Danish authorities. EU qualifications may be recognised under mutual recognition rules.

Career paths include specialisation, foreman/supervisor roles, further education (e.g. technician, engineer) or self-employment. Highlight your apprenticeship, certifications and practical experience in applications.
