Holiday unemployment benefits

What does it mean?

Holiday unemployment benefits (feriedagpenge) are a special arrangement allowing unemployed people receiving dagpenge to take holiday without losing their benefit entitlement entirely.

Rules are set by your a-kasse and legislation. Typically you must apply in advance, and benefits may be paused or adjusted during the holiday period. The aim is to align unemployed people's holiday rights with those of employed workers.

Plan holiday with your a-kasse adviser to avoid unintended suspension or overpayment. Keep documentation of travel dates and any required notifications to the job centre.

Holiday while unemployed does not replace employed workers' holiday pay — it is a specific benefit scheme. Check current rates and procedures on borger.dk or with your a-kasse.
