Understanding your payslip

What does it mean?

A Danish payslip (lønseddel) details your earnings and deductions for each pay period. Key elements: gross salary, supplements (overtime, bonuses), AM-bidrag (8% labour market contribution), A-skat (withholding tax), pension contributions and net pay (udbetalt løn).

Check that base salary matches your contract, that overtime and supplements are correct, and that pension and tax deductions align with your tax card (skattekort).

Common payslip codes vary by employer payroll systems. Ask HR if lines are unclear. Keep payslips for documentation of employment, seniority and income history.

Understanding your payslip is essential for budgeting, mortgage applications and detecting payroll errors. Dispute mistakes promptly with HR and your union if needed.
