SU clip
What does it mean?
SU clips (SU-klip) measure your entitlement to Danish state education grant (SU). Full-time students receive 12 clips per year (one per month of study). Part-time study uses fewer clips per year.
Total available clips depend on programme length plus possible extension clips (merit, delay, master's). Unused clips from earlier study may be carried forward within statutory limits.
Clips are consumed when SU is paid. Taking leave, switching programme or studying abroad affects clip usage — consult SU guidelines (su.dk) before decisions.
SU is separate from unemployment benefits. After graduation, transition planning includes a-kasse membership (two-week rule) and job search — clips no longer apply once study ends.

Two-week rule
To qualify for unemployment benefits you must join an unemployment fund (a-kasse) within two weeks of finishing your education. Once you join, there is a mandatory waiting month, meaning you receive your first benefit payment one month after your education ends.
