Student grant vs. student job

What does it mean?

Students often combine SU (state grant) with part-time work (studiejob). SU provides basic income; student jobs add experience and extra money but are subject to earning limits (fribeløb) — income above the threshold reduces SU payment.

The fribeløb is adjusted annually. Report income to SU administration promptly. Exceeding limits can create repayment obligations.

Student jobs build CV, network and professional habits. Many employers offer flexible hours for students. Limit hours if study performance suffers — completing education on time preserves long-term earning potential.

After graduation, student job contacts may convert to full-time offers. Maintain good references and clarify post-graduation possibilities early.
