2 church sextons for Grundtvigs Church

Due to reorganizations and general strengthening in the sacristan area, we are looking for two new permanent sacristan colleagues at Grundtvigs Church with a start date of 1 January 2027. Both positions are 37 hours per week.

As a sacristan you will join a team of four permanent sacristans, of whom two have coordinating duties . Grundtvigs Church is a large building, but a small workplace, which besides sacristans consists of choir singers, a church administrator, a church culture employee, organists and priests, as well as the parish council and the many volunteers who come to help. Our main task is to ensure that the church can be a church for those who seek it, both in everyday life, on holidays, and in life’s decisive moments.

It is important for us to create a good and caring workplace where we get on well together and lift as a team. Grundtvigs Church is a busy workplace with many services, funeral ceremonies, weddings, baptisms, confirmations, guided tours, concerts and events. In addition, we have every single day many visitors from all over the world who come to see the church. Your duties as sacristan will include

• Practical tasks before, during and after services and church ceremonies (funerals, burials, weddings, baptisms)
• Occasional reading of entrance and exit prayers and assistance at communion
• Light administrative tasks, such as ordering goods
• Cleaning and maintenance of the church, crypt and other facilities
• Preparation and arrangement for events
• Operation of light, sound and other technical equipment

The appointment is, as a general rule, covered by the Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations (OAO-S) and the Collective Agreement for church functionaries with core tasks as sacristan or graver entered into between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and the Danish Sacristans Association and the accompanying protocol for sacristans. Current civil servant sacristans have the right to retain their civil service status when employed with a direct transition. In that case, the position must be classified. If the person hired for the position has not completed the mandatory sacristan training, it is a condition that this is completed within two years after employment. The annual salary is agreed within the range 324,667.00 – 408,841.00 DKK (current prices). The salary is graded in accordance with the employment fraction.

An agreement on placement in the salary range is concluded between the parish council and the Danish Sacristans Association. There is a standby obligation to the position. The standby allowance amounts to 33,230.62 DKK per year (current prices). OK allowance of 1,400.52 (current prices) per year. All amounts are in current prices and prorated according to the position’s employment fraction. Upon hire, references and a child secrecy check will be obtained. There is a three-month probationary period.
