About the job
Do you want to join the journey and put your mark on the new Sølund, where you set the direction for the future of elderly life? And do you want to help develop a everyday life with closeness, where residents' lives, employees' professional skills and the sense of community are in focus? Then please read on here.
Sølund is facing major changes in the coming years. The new Sølund is expected to be completed in 2030, and the first phase is planned for moving in May 2027.
You will as department head be part of an important process, where we not only move into new frames, but also develop our workflows, professional practice and collaboration. Together we shall create frameworks for an elderly life with self-determination, communities, professional quality and room for each person's wishes and needs.
We are seeking you as department head who can create direction and security in the changes, involve the staff and translate new opportunities into concrete improvements in daily life. In addition, it is important that you as department head can and want to develop professionalism, strengthen staff well-being and create the best conditions for residents' everyday life.
A leadership role with professionalism, presence and influence
You will have management responsibility for about 25 employees across day and evening shifts. In addition to ensuring a well-functioning and coherent daily life, high health and care professional quality and good conditions for both residents and staff, it is important that you can balance daily operations with professional development, employee well-being and long-term improvements. It requires that you are both visible and approachable, while you prioritize and make decisions and involve employees in the development of the department's practices.
About Sølund – a house with music, diversity and high ceilings
Sølund consists of 150 homes, including six respite homes, spread across six departments. We have closed intake of new residents, as there are 132 homes in the first phase of the New Sølund. We also have a service department, a professional and therapeutic staff and an administration.
We are a diverse and active house with many professions, cultures and perspectives. We see diversity as a strength, and we work to support employees' competencies, well-being and job satisfaction – for the benefit of the residents.
Sølund has a special music profile. Here residents live life to the full musical, both literally and figuratively. Music is an important part of our daily life, but our ambitions go beyond that: we want more than what we usually do, and create space for experiences, communities and each person's dreams and potential.
Sølund is an active house with many activities and events. You can read more about our everyday life on our website and Facebook page .
You will become part of a strong leadership community
You are not alone, because you will become an important part of Sølund's overall leadership community, where we collaborate on the core task, share responsibility and work from common leadership values, managerial agreements and strategic goals. Our interdisciplinary leadership team consists of a principal (forstander), six department heads, and heads of the production kitchen, activity center and the voluntary and service and cleaning department.
We collaborate closely with our professional staff, which consists of an education-responsible nurse, two development nurses and two administrative staff and a duty planner.
We advise each other, share experiences and support one another across departments. We believe we succeed best when we use each other's competencies and take joint responsibility for creating a safe, dignified and meaningful life for the residents. It is crucial that both residents and relatives feel respected, cared for and secure.
Who are you?
We dream that you have a nursing professional background and preferably experience from the elderly care sector. In addition you have a diploma in leadership or a desire to commence one.
One of the characteristics of your drive is to practice good leadership and collaborate with different people. You have already learned that leadership, among other things, is about creating good relations, setting boundaries and having clear and explicit communication. Just as you are also concerned with creating good conditions for both residents and staff and see opportunities to influence your own department, develop professionalism and contribute to the future of nursing homes in a strong work community.
Some of the more personal competencies we imagine you have
- Creates direction and followers through clear, appreciative and inclusive leadership and has professional impact and the courage to make decisions and challenge habits constructively
- Is attentive and curious and meets people with empathy and humor and can reflect on own and others' perspectives
- Prioritizes well-being, cooperation and a good working environment and actively engages in daily life together with residents and staff
We have high expectations of you, but you do not need to know everything from day one. The most important is that you want to take responsibility, develop yourself as a leader and achieve results together with us.
