Head of Department for the new Criminal Prevention Unit - Center for Interdisciplinary Prevention, Aalborg Municipality

Do you want to help develop and set the direction for the crime prevention efforts for children, young people and families in Aalborg Municipality? Are you passionate about prevention, cross-disciplinary collaboration, crime-preventive initiatives and strategic development? Then you may be our upcoming head of the newly established Crime Prevention Unit.

The purpose of establishing a Crime Prevention Unit is to further strengthen both preventive and crime-preventive work for children, young people and families by bringing together a range of crime-preventive initiatives and providing operational leadership resources in the form of a department head.

The unit should be viewed in close strategic connection with the other efforts in the Center for Cross-Disciplinary Prevention, including leisure centres, Nexus Youth Center, the Midtby gang, housing strategic and social housing initiatives, supplier strategy for contact persons, and collaboration with voluntary organisations and civil society.

About us

The Center for Cross-Disciplinary Prevention works broadly with preventive and crime-preventive initiatives for children, young people and their families. We work in a holistic manner with both individual- and area-based interventions.

Several coherent tasks within the crime-preventive field have in recent years been brought together in the center, and we are therefore organizing the initiatives in a Crime Prevention Unit, which shall lift and further develop the initiatives.

The unit will be physically anchored at the same place as the secretariat, from which you as department head will work closely with the center director and the secretariat head.

The Crime Prevention Unit

The unit brings together a number of existing initiatives to create more coherence and a common direction in the effort. The Crime Prevention Unit consists of:

• SSP initiative; for children and young people both under and over 18
• Leisure jobs Aalborg; leisure and pocket-money jobs
• Taskforce collaboration; prevention of recruitment to the gang and biker environment

In addition, the Safety Consultant function for the North Jutland Region is attached to the Crime Prevention Unit. The safety consultants are part of a national team that offers free advisory services to professionals and citizens on honour-related conflicts, including re-education journeys and involuntary overseas stays.

Your area of responsibility

As department head you will be responsible for personnel management and professional operations. You will play a central role in strengthening the crime-preventive direction in Aalborg Municipality. Your main tasks will be:

• Professional coordination and quality development of the tasks in close collaboration with the staff and the center management
• Staff leadership and development of employees
• Occupational health and well-being leadership and welfare
• Participation in a limited number of executing tasks and meetings, e.g., InfoHouse meetings and weekly meetings in SSP and the SSP steering group, as well as in operational and strategic task forces.
• Working closely with relevant partners e.g., North Jutland Police, Educational House, Family Groups, Children and Youth, Danish Prisons, Mærk, etc.
• You will play a central role in the center's strategic leadership team

We are looking for someone who

• Has solid experience within the social, youth and crime-preventive area
• Has experience with leadership or strong leadership competencies and leadership potential
• Has worked with early preventive and crime-preventive initiatives
• Has experience with collaboration between municipality, police, Danish Prisons, region or other authorities
• Can create an interdisciplinary environment and utilise competencies across professional groups
• Can set professional direction in strategic and holistic collaboration
• Has strong collaboration skills and thrives in cross-disciplinary environments
• Can create job satisfaction and professionalism in core services together with the staff
• Is clear, communicative and follow-up oriented

Salary and terms of employment

Start date: 1 January 2027. Salary and terms of employment according to the applicable collective agreement. The position is organizationally anchored in the Center for Cross-Disciplinary Prevention at Job and Social.
