About the job

Do you want to use your medical expertise where it can make a difference for many? With us you get the opportunity to apply it in a broad medical perspective and contribute to a safe and patient-safe health service through supervision and advice.

About Supervisory and Advisory East

Supervisory and Advisory East is part of the Danish Patient Safety Authority. We supervise treatment facilities in the upcoming Region East and carry out a range of health-professional advisory and emergency tasks.

We are about 45 employees with different professional backgrounds. The majority are doctors and nurses, and in addition the unit consists of other academics and administrative staff. It gives a strong multidisciplinary environment where complex issues are illuminated from several perspectives, and where your medical assessment plays a central role.

The unit consists of two sections: Organization Supervision and Advisory and Emergency. In addition, we have a very close collaboration with the administrative and legal sections.

In the unit we have a strong professional community where we spar with each other, share knowledge and together develop our task execution. Our unit is characterized by a good and close collegial collaboration both professionally and socially, with a focus on learning and development. We solve our tasks in close interdisciplinary cooperation with colleagues within our own unit and in the Authority’s other units.

In addition to supervising treatment facilities, we provide health-professional advice to other authorities and health personnel regarding, among other things, reportable infectious diseases, environmental contamination, forensic autopsies, traffic medicine, etc.

We prepare health-professional contributions to answer parliamentary and committee questions and in connection with the preparation of regulations and guidelines.

Your everyday life with us

As a Departmental Doctor in Supervisory and Advisory East, you will have a varied workday where you use your clinical experience and medical expertise in many different contexts.

You will be employed in Organization Supervision, where you will work with patient safety at treatment facilities. Specifically, you will assess the health-professional aspects, workflows and organizational frameworks at treatment facilities that are important for future patient safety. You will participate in both supervisory visits and administrative supervision and make health-professional assessments based on, among other things, concrete incidents and inquiries. The work gives you a broad insight into different specialties, treatment facilities and ways of organizing the health service.

In addition, you will participate in handling the Authority’s medical core tasks, including telephone duties and forensic autopsies. These tasks are anchored in the Advisory and Emergency section. What unites these tasks is that you bring your clinical experience and medical judgement into play in complex problems, make independent professional assessments and collaborate closely with colleagues with different professional backgrounds.

You will be affiliated both with a strong multidisciplinary team in Organization Supervision and a medical team across the unit’s sections.

Your education, experience and personal qualifications

You are a specialist doctor, preferably in Social Medicine, but we are interested in doctors from all specialties. The most important for us is that you have solid experience and want to bring your medical expertise into play in a broader perspective.

You are interested in patient safety and the issues arising at the intersection of medical professionalism, health law, organization and authority responsibility. If you have experience with health law, regulatory work and/or organizational tasks, it is an advantage but not a prerequisite. The crucial thing is that you have an interest in the area and want to learn.

In addition we place emphasis on that you

  • Have experience with and an interest in administrative case processing.
  • Have strong collaboration skills and thrive in an organization where decisions are made in collaboration with leaders and colleagues with different professions.
  • Work systematically, methodically and analytically, so you can create an overview of and produce results for complex areas/cases.
  • Communicate well both in writing and orally.
  • Can prioritize your tasks and can thrive in a political field with media attention.
  • Want to contribute to working on and developing the health-professional organizational supervision of treatment facilities in collaboration with your colleagues and external actors.

It is a prerequisite that you have a driving license and own car available.

We offer

An exciting and highly varied workday in a political field with a mix of outreach tasks, analysis tasks, case processing and administrative tasks, all of which have many touchpoints to legislation in the health sector. You will become part of an active multidisciplinary environment where, together with skilled and engaged colleagues, you have the opportunity to use and develop your competencies and contribute to developing professional supervision of treatment facilities.

We are a workplace that values an informal tone and a good working environment characterized by close collaboration and sparring. Regardless of your background, many of our tasks will likely be new to you. We therefore ensure good onboarding, including broad introduction and internal training.

You will have flexible work scheduling and the possibility of ad hoc remote work one day a week after agreement with your nearest supervisor. You will be covered by free coffee and fruit, free gym facilities and a swan-labeled canteen. We have an art association and an active staff association that arranges theatre and cinema trips, museum visits, etc. We have a bike cellar and are within walking distance of public transport.

It is possible to sign up for a parking space scheme, and there are electric car charging stations. The Authority has a beautiful location at Islands Brygge with a view of Copenhagen Harbour.

We also prioritize collaboration on the green transition.

The appointment is full-time (37 hours) and start is desired on 1 February or after further agreement.

Employment as departmental doctor requires that you have obtained specialist recognition.
