The young people at Bakkegården

Youth placed at Bakkegården often have complex social issues and substance abuse problems. They are youths with behavioral challenges who are often psychologically screened and assessed during their placement at Bakkegården. This means that pedagogical interventions are planned in relation to the young people’s issues and behavior.

Who we are

Bakkegården is a secured institution with space for 15 young people, distributed across 3 departments. The placed youths are between 12-17 years old, who are primarily placed under guardianship surrogate, as part of a youth sanction or UKN program, a pedagogical observation, or based on the danger criteria.

We are an organization of about 150 employees consisting of social educators, vocational teachers, social- and health assistants, service staff, as well as administrative personnel.

General about the position

The position is a permanent 37-hour-per-week role, and salary and terms of employment follow the applicable collective agreement. Working hours are Monday – Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 08:00 to 13:00. Additionally, there is a on-call duty function, which is covered on rotation by the management group.

The management at Bakkegården consists of a warden, a deputy warden, and department heads. Bakkegården’s leadership foundation is based on trust, responsibility, recognition, inclusion, and visibility.

You will be responsible for the daily operation of a night department with about 11 staff. The daily life offers a high degree of freedom, challenges and complex tasks. The tasks are both of a social-pedagogical and a management nature. The everyday is often characterized by busyness and change, where Bakkegården’s focus is always on creating development.

Your most important task is to perform close professional leadership of the department’s staff.

This includes, among other things

• Facilitating a shared understanding of professional quality within the framework of the organization’s goals – and delivering these goals in practice.
• Creating buy-in and meaning through clear communication.
• In collaboration with the staff, planning, coordinating and implementing pedagogical interventions for the placed youths.
• Providing daily sparring to staff regarding interventions and methods.
• Supporting the department’s daily planning and coordination.
• Ensuring that the department works from Bakkegården’s visions, objectives and policies.
• Ensuring that the department’s interventions and documentation meet national quality standards, regional guidelines and current legislation.
• Supporting a good working environment, both in one’s own department and at Bakkegården in general.

We expect that you

• Have a pedagogical basic education or a similar social-pedagogical education.
• You either have a diploma in leadership or are keen to start the education.
• Can balance your leadership depending on context, expectations and demands.
• Are both empathetic and decisive, can listen and at the same time make tough decisions and stand firm when the situation requires it.
• Are able to create and maintain good relationships by meeting others with respect, trust and tolerance.
• Have clear and listening communication with the youths, relatives, staff and external partners.
• Can communicate with your surroundings in writing as well as speaking, and be able to translate and translate complex strategies into operational goals that simplify the complex.
• Have an eye for developing and supporting the professional and personal competences and strengths of staff and the management team. To give and receive feedback, and to see professional sparring as an important element both in relation to the professional task and to leadership.

Starting salary for employees covered by the agreement

The region is obliged to inform you about the starting salary for the position. You will be informed of the base salary, centrally fixed allowances and pension under the relevant collective agreement. In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
