Would you like to help further develop a small self-governing nursing home with a focus on high professional standards, job satisfaction and care?

And can you create a shared direction through presence, curiosity and inclusive leadership?

Aftensol is a self-governing nursing home in Nørrebro with an operating agreement with the City of Copenhagen. We have 43 residents and 45 permanent colleagues spread across five floors. We are a small house where we know each other, and where there are good opportunities to make a visible difference. We place emphasis on a good and calm working environment with room for differences, and where everyone is welcome.

Aftensol is a nursing home under the Salvation Army, and our value basis is built on a Christian view of humanity and life. We work from the values of inclusivity, neighborly love and care for the whole person. This shapes our approach to residents, relatives and colleagues.

We have a solid foundation, engaged staff and a common ambition to continually improve and to develop through collaboration and with good framework for the staff.

A department head with room to maneuver

At Aftensol the path from idea to action is short, and as department head for the health-professional staff, you will have good opportunities to influence both daily life and the continued development of the nursing home.

As department head you will be responsible for daily personnel management, professional leadership and operational coordination. You will become a visible and accessible leader who knows the house, the staff and the residents’ day-to-day life.

An important part of the task is to support staff through dialogue, sparring and clear leadership and to create frameworks for well-being, collaboration and a good working environment. The staff should feel supported and have the opportunity to take responsibility and bring their professionalism into play.

In close collaboration with the quality nurse, you will support professional reflection, learning and competence development in everyday life. As a leader you set a clear direction, create alignment around shared decisions and ensure that new knowledge is translated into good practice.

With a view to the connection between residents’ needs, staff competencies and daily operations, you will work systematically to prioritize the initiatives. Residents are always at the center, and your leadership should support them in having the life they want and are able to live.

Multidisciplinary collaboration is a natural part of everyday life, and it is important to be able to bring different professional fields and perspectives into play. This also applies to collaboration with residents’ relatives, where we emphasize a good and constructive dialogue.

We want staff observations and professional assessments to be brought into play, discussed and followed up on, so we can continually adapt the help to each resident’s needs.

When new workflows and solutions are to be developed and tested, you involve the staff early in the process. Their professional assessments and everyday experiences are important for finding solutions that work in practice.

Another central task is to ensure good and coherent operations. In close collaboration with our resource planner, you will work with staffing, continuity and the use of staff competencies across the floors. Professional knowledge, data and everyday experiences must be used actively to create concrete improvements.

You will have a close leadership collaboration with the nursing home director, who has the overall management responsibility and knows the department head role from inside. Together you must ensure that common goals and decisions are translated into good practice in daily life.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who gain energy from collaborating and developing people, and who want to support residents in their needs. You thrive in a leadership role where you have overview and are close to the staff and the residents’ everyday life. You are a positive and presence-rich leader who wants to take responsibility and help steer a house in a good direction.

You meet people with curiosity, respect and good humor and manage to create engagement and shared direction. At the same time you are willing to take action when something must be developed or changed and know that the best solutions are often found together with the staff. You have an eye for opportunities, but can also prioritize and create calm when everyday life is unpredictable.

We imagine that you are a trained nurse or have another health profession education, and that you have leadership experience. If you do not already have a diploma in leadership or an equivalent management education, we offer you the opportunity to pursue it.

What you can look forward to

  • A challenging leadership position with the opportunity to influence daily practice and continued development.
  • Close collaboration with a dedicated principal and good colleagues.
  • A mentor during your first year.
  • A individually tailored introduction program based on your experience and competencies.
  • Possibility for leadership education and ongoing professional and personal development.
  • An workplace where presence, collaboration and integrity are important values.
