Area Manager with a focus on the part-time workforce - Midtjysk Brand og Redning

Do you want to lead the development of our part-time workforce and help ensure a strong and future-proof emergency service?

At Midtjysk Brand & Redning we are looking for a district manager (områdeleder) with a focus on our approximately 150 part-time firefighters.

You will play a central role in ensuring wellbeing, competency development and cohesion, and you will be part of the management in an emergency service that every day creates security for more than 200,000 residents in Silkeborg and Viborg Municipality.

About the job

Your primary task will be to support and develop our part-time workforce in close collaboration with your other district manager colleagues. Part-time firefighters play a central role in Midtjysk Brand & Redning. They create security in local communities and contribute with high professionalism and local knowledge.

You will be responsible for a number of our ten part-time stations and become a visible and approachable leader for the part-time firefighters and the threefold nature of part-time, which acts as the link between management and the stations.

At the same time you will become part of the overall district leadership team with five leadership colleagues, and you will work across the organization. This means that in collaboration with the other district leaders you support development, operations and wellbeing across the entire operational area. It is an advantage if you can join the incident command rotation in Viborg (either immediately or after completion of training).

You will report directly to the head of Department for Operational Unit, Jeppe James Olsen.

Your main tasks

• Support operations and development at the part-time stations
• Ensure good dialogue and close cooperation with the triad
• Contribute to recruitment, retention and wellbeing among the part-time workforce
• Participate in meetings and activities at the stations across the coverage area
• Assist in planning and implementation of training, exercises and competence development
• Support the collaboration between the part-time workforce and the full-time day-night shift staff
• Contribute to the development of the overall operational area in cooperation with the other district leaders and participate in projects and cross-cutting initiatives across the organization
• Join the incident command rotation in Viborg or be prepared to qualify for the role (feel free to reach out and hear more about the flexible options we can offer)

The position is not a traditional office job. You should expect a daily routine with great variation between administrative tasks, employee dialogue, station visits, exercises, training and operational tasks.

Since the majority of our part-time workforce have their main employment aside from the emergency service, there will be ongoing meetings, events and activities outside ordinary working hours. We offer great flexibility in planning your work, but you should expect a certain amount of evening and weekend work.

• have understanding of or experience from emergency services, police, defense, pre-hospital care or similar operational organizations (if you do not already have incident commander training, you must be prepared to undertake it)

Salary and terms of employment in accordance with applicable collective agreement and agreement on local pay formation. Compensation for the incident command rotation is on stand-by terms according to applicable local agreement.

Midtjysk Brand & Redning is a joint municipal emergency service for Silkeborg and Viborg Municipality. Every day we work to create security for nearly 200,000 residents through our preventive, operational and regulatory tasks.

We have two center stations in Silkeborg and Viborg and eight surrounding stations, primarily operated by part-time employees.
