About the job

Are you passionate about presence and relationships and at the same time good at motivating and setting direction? If so, we currently have an attractive assistant manager position at Gug Nursing Home.

Gug Nursing Home

Gug Nursing Home is located in the southeastern part of Aalborg in a quiet neighborhood in green surroundings. The home has a total of 41 somatic beds, of which 41 beds, 25 of them are under §47. This is often citizens without much family, particularly vulnerable citizens, etc. This means that we have many different types of people in our nursing home beds.

The majority of residents come after hospital admission or temporary residence, and the remainder are admitted from their own homes. Gug Nursing Home is divided into 2 departments, including Department A and C.

Fortunavej 2 includes Aalborg Food Service AS, which houses administration and kitchen where part of the meals for residents of Aalborg Municipality's nursing homes are prepared.

At Gug Nursing Home there is a focus on involving residents and relatives in daily dialogue. We place emphasis on learning about the resident's life, habits, and personality, so we can get to know him or her well and provide the best care and assistance. We value homely surroundings, coziness, and community highly.

Gug Nursing Home is a well-functioning house with many different partners. The focus is on residents' self-determinism, and the home offers a varied range of activities in the form of a monthly church service, visits from a kindergarten, gymnastics, events throughout the year, etc. This has great significance in daily life.

We employ a wide range of staff, social and health care assistants, social and health care helpers, household assistants, physiotherapist, nurse, and flex job workers, and collaborate with many different interdisciplinary partners, e.g., Our nursing home doctor (Lægerne Fyrkilden), Citizens' Fixed Teams (Universitetskvarteret – which handles nursing between 15-07 and weekends and holidays), Geriatric Psychiatry, and many more.

Gug Nursing Home also has a physiotherapist employed, who participates in morning care and then focuses on unsupervised training, gymnastics, activities with different residents in small and large groups and individually with those who need it. We have also employed a nurse at the nursing home as part of holistic care.

With the appointment of a nurse at the nursing home, we have become even better in our interdisciplinary work with residents, partners, and in task solving, as well as focusing on increasing the competencies of skilled staff. The nurse has become an important link in the work with holistic care, as nursing has come even closer, and it is easier for the nurse, SSA and SSH to coordinate and collaborate on tasks when everyone is under the same roof and thus know each other even better.

We are part of a cluster collaboration, consisting of 7 nursing homes, where the nurses at the individual homes help each other, spar with each other and cover for each other. They have a daily online coordination meeting where they share knowledge, discuss current issues, etc.

You will be part of a newly established leadership team together with the nursing home manager, who has a therapeutic background. Together you will create a close, trusting, and development-oriented collaboration, where you bring your different professional competencies into play and set a shared direction for Gug Nursing Home.

As an assistant manager you will have a central role in daily operations and in close collaboration with the nursing home manager. You will become part of the management of a staff group consisting of about 33 dedicated and skilled employees, as well as a varying number of students. Your tasks will include student supervision, shift planning, and administrative tasks that support a well-functioning everyday life for both residents and staff.

Together you take responsibility for creating and maintaining a good culture in the house, where we meet each resident with respect, care, and dignity, and where we are good role models for each other. We place great emphasis on job satisfaction, good mood, and a strong sense of community. We believe that well-being and professional development go hand in hand, and that it should be pleasant and meaningful to go to work. Therefore we also prioritize having fun together in daily life and remember to celebrate the small successes that make a difference.

As an assistant manager it is an important task to support that the workplace also in the future has strong work communities, a shared culture, and an attractive working environment for the entire staff group in close collaboration with the nursing home manager, the union representative, and the safety representative.
