Nuuk's new school – Atuarfik Inussuk – ready to welcome staff and children from two schools as well as the two AKOs Illu and Narsarmiutaq

AKO and School

The leisure part is a large and important part of most early primary childrens' daily life, and for us it is important that the AKO is a safe place that allows space for “free play” while also structured activities and movement. You will become a social pedagogical educator for a new AKO with about 300 children, divided into three groups of about 100 children. The AKO is part of Atuarfik Inussuk and works according to the same values as the school.

The new AKO is a merger of the two AKOs Illu and Narsarmiutaq and will share the same physical premises as the school. An important goal in the AKO will therefore also be to create coherence for the children from when they arrive at the school in the morning until they go home after the leisure period in the afternoon.

AKO currently consists of around 37 pedagogical staff.

A social helper who will join in close collaboration with other pedagogical staff

∙Can assist with parent meetings

∙A role model in relation to a good working environment

∙Who has a social helper or another relevant pedagogical qualification

Criminal Record and Child Safety Check

The position is subject to the Act on the obligation to obtain criminal record and child safety checks. In accordance with the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal record and child safety checks. Therefore, please note that the start date can only be agreed when the municipality has received the child safety check from the national police and the criminal record from the Police.

The child safety check is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the person, while the criminal record check is obtained by the person from the Police.

Salary and Employment Terms

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Greenlandic Self-Government, according to the agreement in force at the time of accession, between the Greenlandic Self-Government and the respective negotiating organisation.

The employment will be with a 3-month trial period.
