About the job

Do you thrive working when most of the city is asleep? Can you support residents with psychosocial challenges who may be struggling when the darkness falls? Would you like to be part of a strong team of night shift workers at Thorupgården?

At Thorupgården we are in the process of assembling a strong team. It will soon be full, but you can still come on board and contribute your professional expertise in a good and professional work environment.

Thorupgården is a social-psychiatric residential service under the Danish Public Service Act §§ 107 and 108, but in the coming years residents who are referred to § 108 will be moved to other residential offerings, which will mean the caregiving task will become smaller. We belong to the Center for Youth and Temporary Housing in the Social Administration.

We work rehabilitatively and take as our starting point the goals, hopes and dreams that the residents have.

About the role

In our facility, 112 residents live across four floors. As a night nurse you and your colleagues work across the entire building. There are six night guards on each shift. The primary task is to be present and accessible to the residents during the night hours and to ensure a safe and calm atmosphere. Your working hours are between 22:30 and 7:30. In addition, we hold ongoing staff meetings in the evening, which you are required to attend.

Two nights are never the same

You must be prepared to take on tasks independently in close and trusting collaboration with your colleagues, with a focus on the residents’ safety and security. There may be quiet moments with a single resident who needs a chat. There can also be more unsettled nights with conflicts and a need for a greater effort.

The more concrete tasks can be

  • perform social and health-related tasks; some residents require personal care and positioning
  • medication administration and documentation of it
  • work closely with the rest of the staff and external partners to ensure coherence in the psychosocial rehabilitation
  • carry out qualified documentation in our documentation system Domus
  • clear and thorough communication and handover of the professional effort to your colleagues to ensure the professional effort across the whole house
  • take care of smaller practical tasks in the house and keep it tidy and pleasant to come to the next morning
  • continuously orient yourself to and comply with Thorupgården’s instructions and guidelines within safety, health and social-work approaches

Your qualifications

We expect that you

  • have experience from the social-psychiatric field or from a similar area (an advantage)
  • have an understanding of psychosocial challenges and substance abuse as well as the ability to build trustful relationships
  • have experience with conflict de-escalation or other professional methods such as Low Arousal to handle situations (an advantage)
  • are independent and decisive during night shifts

We can offer

  • a meaningful position in the social-psychiatric field, where you have the opportunity to make a differences in people’s lives
  • an workplace with a focus on good well-being, safety and understanding for diversity
  • thorough training to perform the task
  • that you become part of an interdisciplinary team with a strong professional focus
  • that we prioritise night shift staff having a safe working environment, which means we hold regular staff meetings and there is supervision
  • that we place a high value on high professional standards and opportunities for personal development and professional sparring
  • close collaboration with the professional coordinator and your immediate supervisor

Employment terms

The positions are full-time and expected to be filled no later than 1 December 2026, but preferably earlier.

Hours beyond the night shift will be placed in day or evening shifts on the opposite week. The hours will also include days where you must participate in courses and staff meetings. We are a flexible workplace that aims to ensure your work life and leisure life fit together.
