Senior Domain Architect – Mainframe / DB2

Bankdata develops and runs IT solutions that are central to the Danish financial sector. Bankdata is behind the technical infrastructure that keeps daily financial operations running – from transactions and compliance to the systems that support the business of the financial institutions.

Mainframe is one of the most business-critical platforms at Bankdata, and we are currently in a period where the area has extra strategic importance and attention, both because it has been decided that the mainframe is a central part of Bankdata's future to be further developed and because over the next years two new banks will be integrated. The Mainframe Infrastructure & DB2 team is responsible for Bankdata's mainframe platform.

The team works with everything from performance, capacity and release management to test data handling. The goal is to ensure stable, secure and efficient operation – and to create the transparency that development teams use to monitor and optimize their solutions.

Become part of an experienced team

You will be a key profile in the team and work with performance optimization, robust operations and modernization on the mainframe – focusing on DB2, SQL/COBOL and z/OS. You will work closely with four other Senior Domain Architects in a team with high seniority, collaboration and a common direction.

Your role: Optimize, automate and standardize

You translate operational insight into measurable performance, advise development teams and raise standards and best practices across the platform – including integrations to the cloud. Automation, preferably with AI tools, constitutes a central part of your toolkit.

In addition, your tasks include

• Performance optimization of programs (COBOL/Rexx), JCLs and SQL on z/OS.
• Advising teams on SQL, data design and use of metrics (Grafana).
• Leverage new features and implement upgrades in DB2, z/OS and COBOL.
• Tuning/monitoring via OMEGAMON and MQ (TSO MQ/MQ Explorer).

The first 6–12 months you will: integrate into the team, deliver visible performance gains and help position mainframe as a strategic platform in Bankdata's Tech Strategy.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We envision that you have a background as a data scientist, software engineer or similar, and that you have built 5–10+ years of experience with mainframe technologies such as z/OS, CICS, MQ and DB2. You have broad knowledge of both operations and development and are used to working with SQL/COBOL tuning and JCL optimization, where you get complex solutions to perform at their best.

Additionally, you have experience collaborating across the organization – you communicate clearly, share your knowledge and thrive in an environment where mentoring and collaboration are key. You are curious, structured and methodical, but at the same time pragmatic and able to translate insight into action.

If you also have experience with AI or automation, and see the potential in bringing new technologies into play on the mainframe platform, that is a big plus.
