About the education

As a Social and Health Care Assistant apprentice, the training lasts about 3 years and 3 months, including Foundation Course 2. The education alternates between classroom sessions at ZBC and practical training at nursing homes and in home care in Lejre Municipality, as well as internships in psychiatry and at a hospital.

As a Social and Health Care Helper apprentice, the training lasts about 20 months including Foundation Course 2 and alternates between classroom at ZBC and practical training at nursing homes and in home care in Lejre Municipality.

Because the home care tasks involve cycling between citizens’ homes, it is a prerequisite for employment and completion of the education that you are able to cycle.

You will learn

• Holistic personal and practical assistance, including handling of medicines
• To work health-promoting and disease-preventive
• To document the carried-out nursing in professional language
• To know the legislation and work responsibly within it
• Early detection, rehabilitation and initiation of activities
• To support and assist the citizen to be active in their own life
• To collaborate professionally, across disciplines and across sectors

About us

As a trainee in Lejre Municipality, you will experience an exciting unpredictable everyday life, where the focus is on human needs, different life situations, and enabling the citizen to master as much as possible in their own life. Your practical supervisor and Team Leader are your closest partners. They support and guide you throughout your education.

As part of the internship, you will receive instruction in the following areas

• Ergonomic guidance/moving instruction.
• Safe and responsible handling of medicines in accordance with applicable guidelines
• Professional and correct documentation in the electronic care journal.
• Communication and relationship-building with the citizens

In addition, there will be time allocated for self-study and professional deepening, so you have the opportunity to strengthen your competencies and connect the theoretical knowledge to the practical experiences you gain during the internship period.

Social and Health Care Assistant apprentices / Social and Health Care Helper apprentices in Lejre Municipality are also characterized by being:

Admission and employment

When you apply for the position as an apprentice you must meet the formal criteria.

Therefore you must document

• Motivational application
• CV
• Recognition of prior learning assessment from ZBC
• You have applied for admission to GF2 and ZBC has registered you (copy enclosed with the application)
• If you are a foreign citizen you must have residence and work permit (copy enclosed with the application)

You can expect to have weekend shifts during the main part of the program. The internship sites are geographically located across Lejre Municipality.

Your working time is 37 hours/week and you must cover your own costs for books and computer.

Deadlines and terms

You will receive wages throughout your education, both during school and internship periods. The wage is according to the current collective agreement with FOA
