Become an SSA student

Do you want to make a difference in people's daily lives and illness journeys? Then become a social and healthcare assistant trainee in Roskilde Municipality.

We are looking for trainees who want to help others, develop professionally and become proficient at supporting citizens through different illness trajectories and stages of life.

You can apply regardless of age and educational background. We accept trainees for Foundation Course 2 and the main course with start in January 2027.

The education offers meaningful and varied tasks in care homes, in home care, at housing facilities and hospitals – in close collaboration with Region Zealand.

What you will learn

• To work with citizens with physical and mental health conditions
• To perform and assess basic health and nursing tasks
• To work independently and across professions
• To work rehabilitatively, preventively and health-promoting
• To communicate, motivate and support citizens and cooperate with relatives and colleagues

We expect that you

• Are curious, ambitious, trustworthy and have the citizen at the center
• Are interested in new knowledge and welfare technology
• Are prepared for written tasks, can attend at 7:00 AM and can cycle/ride a scooter during training
• Have completed 9th or 10th grade with Danish and mathematics
• Can present first aid and fire safety course at the start of the main course

Salary and employment The education alternates between school stays and apprenticeship periods. We work closely with the SOSU school ZBC in Roskilde. Read more at: http://www.zbc.dk

The working hours are 37 hours per week. During the training periods you can expect evening and weekend work. You will be paid during the education. See rates at: http://www.roskilde.dk/SOSU .

A child and criminal records check and references will be obtained before employment.

If you are over 25

When you apply for admission to the program, you will be invited to a recognition of prior learning (RPL).

You must attach this to your application for an apprenticeship.

If you do not have Danish citizenship

Attach documentation of valid residence and work permit .

All trainees must start on Foundation Course 2 if you have not already completed it.

If you have completed an SSH education or parts of the SSA education, we assess which program you can continue with with us.

Mandatory information on data security

If your application is rejected, Roskilde Municipality records the rejection and your CPR number on Lærepladsen.dk. The information is transmitted to the Data Warehouse in the Agency for IT and Learning and used only for statistics. They are not visible to you or the public. The collection takes place under §58 of the Executive Order on Vocational Education.
