About the job

Are you a student in the final year of your bachelor’s degree in robotics technology at SDU, or have you completed your bachelor’s degree and are now pursuing a relevant master’s degree at SDU? And would you like to use your experiences from your own study path to help a fellow student navigate the program successfully? Then you are the one we are looking for.

We are currently seeking an engaged student with a background in robotics technology at the University of Southern Denmark who has the desire and time to support a fellow student in creating structure in student life, navigating the academic requirements, and successfully completing the final part of the program.

As a study mentor you will have the opportunity to make a tangible difference for another student while gaining experience in translating your own experiences from your education. The mentor role thus provides you with ample opportunity to develop competencies in communication, dissemination, collaboration, and guidance that you can carry forward into your professional life.

About Olivia Danmark

At Olivia Danmark we provide special educational support (SPS) to students with psychological and/or neurological functional impairments across a wide range of the country’s higher education programs. In this regard, we at Olivia Danmark continually seek study mentors who want to contribute to SPS work across study directions at the University of Southern Denmark.

Your role as a study mentor

As a study mentor you become an important support for a student who needs help navigating everyday study life and creating good framework conditions for their study program. You will initially be assigned to one student, but there is a possibility to enter into a mentor arrangement for additional students.

The concrete needs and focus areas of the support program are specified at a kickoff meeting between you, the student, and the student’s SPS advisor.

A support program may involve helping the student with, for example

  • Acquiring strategies and study techniques, including note-taking and reading techniques as well as time management
  • Structuring and prioritizing the curriculum, for example with the help of reading plans
  • Handling changes related to teaching, projects, and syllabus
  • Establishing contact with teachers, supervisors and fellow students
  • Establishing study groups and engaging in group work
  • Reading and understanding social codes in connection with group work. The support can consist of being present during group work or meeting with the student afterwards to discuss the challenges the student experiences
  • Understanding and handling the program’s requirements and expectations as well as registration for exams
  • Using and understanding the program’s internal facilities, including IT and library facilities

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • Are in the final year of the bachelor’s degree in robotics technology at SDU or have completed the bachelor’s degree in robotics technology and are pursuing a relevant master’s degree at SDU
  • Have good knowledge of student life in robotics technology and experience with the academic requirements, project work, and work forms that the program involves
  • Are eager to help a fellow student achieve a good study path
  • Are good at listening, communicating, and conveying your knowledge in an understandable way
  • Are structured and can create an overview together with another person
  • Are curious about other people’s perspectives and needs

In addition, it is a requirement that you as a study mentor must

  • Be enrolled in the same program as the student or at least at the same educational institution
  • Complete an intro workshop at Olivia Danmark no later than six months after your hire

You do not need to have experience with SPS or knowledge of psychological and/or neurological functional impairments. The most important thing is that you want to support a fellow student and learn how to best make a difference.

At Olivia Danmark we offer

As a study mentor at Olivia Danmark you will receive

  • A meaningful student job where you make a difference for another student
  • An opportunity to develop your skills in communication, dissemination, relationship-building and guidance – competencies that are valuable in a future engineering career

  • Opportunities for upskilling through supervision and workshops
  • Salary in accordance with the FOA collective agreement

You will be paid for the hours you actually work with the student.
