The Municipality of Varde is looking for responsible employees for our ABA corps at the municipality's elderly housing centers. We are seeking both permanent staff and temporary workers. The temps participate partly in the fixed weekend coverage and partly in coverage of shifts due to illness, holidays and other absence.

About the task

As an ABA guard, you are part of the emergency response at one of the Municipality of Varde's elderly housing centers. Your primary task is to monitor the center's ABA system and respond quickly when the fire alarm is activated.

An ABA system (Automatic Fire Alarm System) monitors the building and automatically alerts at signs of fire. As an ABA guard you must initiate the necessary actions in accordance with applicable instructions, including starting the evacuation of residents until the emergency services take over the operation.

During the shift you base yourself in the center's guard room, where you stay between tasks. On night shifts there is an opportunity to sleep in the guard room. However, it is essential that you are always ready to react immediately if the fire alarm is activated.

You do not need to have experience with fire preparedness or ABA systems. We provide a thorough introduction to the task, including fire instructions, the function of the ABA system, alarm handling and evacuation procedures, so you are well prepared to perform as an ABA guard.

Work hours

We are seeking both permanent staff and temporary workers.

As a permanent employee you can expect to work on average three shifts per week of 12 hours each.

The shifts are distributed as

• Day shift 08:00-20:00
• Night shift 20:00-08:00

As a permanent employee you also participate in a duty roster with a weekend shift every 4th weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 20:00-08:00).

We are also seeking temporary workers for both fixed weekend daytime coverage (08:00-20:00) and for coverage of shifts due to illness, holidays and other absence. As a temporary worker you will become part of the ABA corps and contribute to safety at the Municipality of Varde's elderly housing centers.

We expect that you

• Are at least 18 years old.
• Are responsible and able to stay calm in pressured situations.
• Can work independently and make quick decisions.
• Can work day, night and weekend shifts.
• Willing to join an emergency team that contributes to the safety of the Municipality of Varde's elderly housing centers.
