About the job

Are you a trained bioanalyst with experience from the pathology specialty, or are you interested in working in the pathology specialty, then we could be the right match.

We are now almost to the point of bringing together the Pathology Department at Zealand University Hospital, in Køge. At the department's unit in Roskilde we still have a satellite function, where we service the Mammary Surgery Department, and where we handle freezing on gynecological and urological samples, and at the unit in Næstved the department's Molecular Pathology is housed.

We are represented in Køge by four teams, three of which are anchored in different organ areas. Common to all four teams is a strong interdisciplinary collaboration with the department's pathologists, focusing on both organ types and functions.

We are seeking bioanalysts for both core tasks and specialized tasks, where the core tasks include simple and complex dissection, manual and automatic embedding, manual and automatic microtomy, and digital pathology – scanning of histology on a Hamamatsu scanner.

The four teams have, in different ways, a stake in these core tasks, and in addition there are various functions within the individual teams, some of which are specialized functions.

Team Cyt is anchored in the gynecological, hematological, pulmonary, and ear/nose/throat areas. The team handles cytological samples from all organ areas in the department, as well as histological samples from the aforementioned organ areas. In Team Cyt, in addition to the core tasks, there is complex dissection of selected gynecological organ areas, screening of cervical cytology, differential counting of hematological material, FISH - fluorescence in situ hybridization and FLOW - flow cytometry.

Team Frys is anchored in the skin, soft tissue, and breast areas and handles frozen section examinations from all organ areas as well as receipt of all unfixed samples to the department. The team carries out complex dissection of selected breast and skin preparations.

Team Hist is anchored in the gastroenterology and urology areas. The team handles the receipt of most of the department's samples and is responsible for tissue preparation, embedding, and histological staining for all department samples. The team performs complex dissection of selected preparations from the aforementioned organ areas.

Team Immun handles immunohistochemical analyses for the entire department. The team is responsible for microtomy of all extra orders and of blocks that have immuno upfront. The Immun team contributes to internal and external research projects.

You will, depending on your experience, your wishes, and the department's needs, be employed in the team where we and you see the best match.

The positions are, as a rule, full-time positions of 37 hours without shifts and without planned weekend work. Working hours currently fall in the period between 6:30 and 16:30.

We offer flexible work time planning, so you, after training in relevant functions, will have the opportunity to influence your own working hours within given parameters. The working time interval in Køge is still under development.

In your first period with us you will undergo an orientation program with particular focus on handling our core tasks. Your introduction will be tailored to any relevant experience from the specialty and will, after a while, be adjusted to the tasks/functions that lie in your upcoming team.

As a colleague/employee, we expect that you

  • Put the patient first and contribute to high professional quality in diagnostics
  • Are diligent about your professional ethics and take responsibility for your work
  • Maintain an overview in busy situations
  • Are helpful, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Contribute positively, constructively, and take responsibility for the teamwork and a good working environment
  • Are open and honest

What you can expect from us

  • We are a team with professional competences and areas of responsibility
  • We are a team with opportunities for variation and deepening in selected tasks
  • There is a high degree of independence in the work
  • We are a department with good opportunities for professional and personal development

We offer

  • An all-round job in a development-oriented department with focus on both core tasks, professionalism, and collaboration
  • An individually tailored orientation program with thorough training
  • A work environment characterized by shared responsibility and influence
  • Close collaboration across professional groups and departments
  • A position without weekend shifts and – after completion of training – the opportunity to influence your own working hours

Your tasks will be adapted to your competences, and there will be opportunities to expand your areas of responsibility as you build new competences.
