About the job

Are you passionate about the authority work for children and young people with disabilities and do you take a high degree of professional pride?

Vordingborg Municipality is seeking 2 engaged and professionally strong child disability advisors for our authority department for Children and Family.

We are expanding our Team Special, and you will therefore have the opportunity to become part of a professionally strong and engaged team, where professional collaboration, high quality and well-being are highly valued.

About the workplace

Vordingborg Municipality's Children and Family Department houses both practitioners and authorities, which provides a unique opportunity for early interventions and close follow-up based on a shared mindset. There are 109 employees. We work according to the Child Act and our foremost task is to prevent and remedy social problems for Children and Young People aged 0 to 14 years.

We have five strategic guiding principles

HOME-BASED – Because home is best, except in very special cases

NETWORK – Because the local environment and the close family are priceless for a child or a young person

EMPOWER – So that all children feel heard and seen, and because we want to keep the focus on what works!

EFFECT – Because it is important that what we do works for the child or young person

ECONOMY – Because there should be something for everyone.

We are based in the scenic Præstø. The expectation is that by 2028 we will move to the new town hall in Vordingborg, where there is a delicious canteen and good transportation options.

Team Special

Team Special consists of seven child advisors and one student assistant. There is close management sparring, a team meeting every week and always the possibility of legal sparring with the department's lawyer.

We use the new program, Kommuneberegner for TA calculations and we are up to date on the new legislation on compensation benefits.

The team is independently organized regarding case distribution, working hours and there is a high degree of own competence, as most approvals are decided collectively at team meetings. The goal of the expansion is a lower caseload, as we see that cases become more complex and require more from each advisor.

There is room for everyone in the team. Both the nerd who loves to work intensely with heavy home-training cases. The creative one who finds child interviews with particularly challenged children incredibly exciting. The friendly one who ensures a good atmosphere, coordination and community, and the subject-specific one who is passionate about policy decisions, procedures and legal technique.

Job tasks

  • Advising and supporting children and their families.
  • Target group assessments and collection of documentation
  • Processing applications for compensable benefits, lost earning capacity, supportive interventions and respite care.

  • Collaboration with practitioners, schools, day-care institutions and other relevant actors.
  • Participation in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to a strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

We expect that you

  • Have a relevant education – such as social worker or facilitator.
  • Preferably have experience as a child disability advisor or a desire and motivation to learn the area.
  • Possess strong professional competencies and general experience with authority work regarding children, young people and their families and the administration of the Child Act.
  • Are good at building relationships and have an empathetic, inclusive and solution-focused approach to work.
  • Are a team player who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment where the child's needs are in focus.
  • Can work in a structured way and keep focus on the task.
  • Have an eye for and respect for roles and contribute to making children, young people, parents, colleagues and partners as good as possible so they can contribute to the solutions.

We offer

  • An exciting and challenging position in a municipality focused on professional development, a common core task to which everyone contributes professionally, and a good and healthy working environment.
  • Mentor program
  • Case supervision.
