About the job

Do you want to work with building case processing in a municipality with high activity and many different types of construction? And are you motivated by combining the regulatory role with good service and constructive dialogue?

Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality strengthens the building department as part of a political priority to reduce processing times and create a better and more efficient service for citizens and businesses.

Therefore we are looking for a building case handler who will help lift the task together with us.

You will become part of Building and Environment and will work with the municipality’s many and diverse building cases. Here you will have the opportunity to use your building-related knowledge in the regulatory work and at the same time play an important role in the dialogue with citizens, businesses and professional advisors.

What we need

As a building case handler you will work with regulatory processing under the Building Act. The tasks are wide-ranging, and we plan the task portfolio to a certain extent according to your competencies and experience.

Your tasks will include

  • processing building cases under the Building Act and the Building Regulations
  • preliminary dialogue and guidance for citizens, businesses and professional advisors
  • assessment of construction projects and the necessary documentation
  • clarification of legislation in collaboration with other areas
  • coordination and interdisciplinary cooperation with colleagues internally and externally
  • contributing to uniform practice, efficient case processing and high professional quality.

We focus on getting cases through well and efficiently – without compromising the quality of the regulatory work. Therefore we need a colleague who can work structurally on the individual case and have a sense of progress.

Who are you?

You have a building-related background. This could be, for example, as a building constructor, engineer, architect or with a craft background supplemented with relevant education and experience.

It is advantageous if you already have experience with building case processing, but your specific professional background is not the only decisive factor. We also place emphasis on your understanding of construction, ability to understand legislation and desire to work in the regulatory role.

We imagine that you

  • have knowledge of the Building Act, the Building Regulations and related legislation
  • work in a structured and thorough way while having a sense of progress
  • can translate rules and legislation into understandable guidance and clear decisions
  • communicate well both verbally and in writing
  • meet citizens, businesses and advisors at eye level
  • can stand firm on the professional and legal frameworks when necessary
  • thrive in collaboration and actively contribute to joint task solving
  • are curious and want to continuously develop your professional skills.

You should be able to see yourself in a politically steered organization where we balance legislation and professional assessments with the desire to provide good and efficient service.

What do we offer?

In Department of Land, Town and Culture you become part of a strong work community where we help each other to succeed.

We meet you where you are and tailor tasks and responsibilities to your competencies and experiences, so you have the opportunity for both professional and personal development.

You are never alone – you have skilled colleagues to brainstorm with and a manager who supports you.

We offer a high degree of flexibility in work – without compromising the core task or the sense of community with your colleagues

You will be based at Smed Sørensensvej 1, where about 130 engaged colleagues from all of Department of Land, Town and Culture work together to create value for citizens and businesses.

In Building and Environment you will also be part of a professional environment where we share knowledge and help each other with difficult cases. We continuously work on our workflows and practices, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of how we solve the building case task.
