As a Business Controller at BioInnovation Institute you will have a broad and development-oriented role with great interface to the entire business – from our own activities to the innovative startups we support. about the role

As a Business Controller you step into an outward-facing and development-oriented role, where with a business focus you have significant influence on the financial processes, reporting and cross-functional sparring. You will become part of an ambitious team, where the Business Controller has a broad and versatile area of responsibility. The role's main weight is on business-oriented tasks supplemented by operational tasks.

Your main areas of responsibility

• Financial ownership of the grant portfolio, ensuring compliance, financial reporting and direct dialogue with external donors (e.g. NNF and other large funds)
• Development, implementation and operation of a new, goal-based budget model and preparation of monthly management and board reporting
• Close financial sparring and advisory with budget owners, department heads and project managers across the organization
• Ensuring and optimizing data flows as well as testing and integration of new AI tools (e.g. Claude AI) for automation of processes
• Month-end close, grant revenue recognition, accounting reconciliations and preparation of working papers for audits

In this position you will have ample opportunity to influence processes from the start and create visible results in a flat and informal culture. You report directly to the Head of Finance and collaborate closely with both internal stakeholders and external grant providers.

about you

We are looking for an proactive and curious Business Controller who thrives at the intersection of numbers, business and external sparring. You are passionate about building relationships across the organization and have a proactive approach, where you naturally take ownership of your tasks. Since you will be part of an informal and international academic environment, it is important that you have strong communication skills and are open to new technology and can see solution opportunities.

We expect that you have

• Relevant higher education such as Cand.merc., HD(R) or equivalent with strong financial and business understanding
• Min. 5-8 years of experience with Business Controlling, preferably from R&D companies, project-oriented organizations, foundations or consulting firms, but not a requirement
• Experience with AI and automation or an academic interest and knowledge in the area
• Strong Excel skills, experience with ERP systems and knowledge of PowerBI
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
