Head of Roads and Parks in Hvidovre Municipality: Create coherence between political decisions and day-to-day operations

Hvidovre Municipality strengthens collaboration in the technical area and is seeking three new managers: Together with the rest of the management team, you shall create a better coherence between urban development, regulatory work, construction and operations.

As head of Road and Park you will bring together an experienced organization around common priorities and connect safe operation with the development of the city's roads, public spaces and green areas. Together with your fellow heads you shall ensure that operational knowledge and technical considerations come into play early, so that the solutions hold together from planning to daily operation.

Gather the management around the task Road and Park contains different professional backgrounds, experienced leaders, and a total of 125 employees. You lead through the five operations managers in the area and also have direct personnel responsibility for six project managers. You report to Kenni and participate in the management community across the Center for Traffic and Properties and the Center for Planning and Environment.

You should especially

• Strengthen the joint management work so that the operations managers prioritize and solve tasks across their own areas.
• Ensure stable operations and financial management through clear goals, prioritization and ongoing follow-up within the political and financial framework.
• Develop the organization and task execution, including workflows, distribution of responsibilities and opportunities to work more efficiently.
• Link operations, projects and regulatory work so the right professional skills are engaged early and the solutions work in practice.
• Ensure good dialogue with citizens and local businesses about the operation and construction tasks that affect their daily lives.
• Deliver qualified political advice and servicing and translate decisions into understandable priorities and actions.

Leadership experience with both proximity and impact You have documented leadership results, understand the conditions of operations organizations and can familiarise yourself with technical problems. You have a relevant educational background and experience, e.g. in engineering, landscape, public administration or social science, preferably supplemented with a leadership education.

• Lead through others. You set direction, give operations managers and professionals clear responsibility and are available for sparring. You follow up on tasks and results and step in when needed.
• Link tasks, finance and resources. You create an overview, see consequences and prioritise so ambitions and capacity hang together.
• Have political discernment. You qualify decisions together with specialists, clearly communicate professional and financial consequences and translate political decisions into action.
• Take joint leadership responsibility. You also prioritise tasks across your own area. Together with the leadership team you bring professional perspectives and different considerations into play and clarify responsibilities so the solutions work for the municipality as a whole.
• Create followership around development. You meet people at eye level, involve employees and the MED organization and explain your decisions. You take difficult conversations and hold fast to necessary changes.
