About the job

Do you want to use your social work expertise close to children, young people and families and at the same time be part of a working community where we help each other in complex cases?

We are seeking a social worker for a maternity cover in Team 2 with start from 1 January 2027. Here you will get varied authority tasks, professional sparring and the opportunity to contribute actively to both task solving and our shared working environment.

About the Family Counseling

The Family Counseling is part of the Secretariat for Children and Young People in Skanderborg Municipality. We handle authority tasks for children, young people and their families and work closely with, among others, Health Visiting, PPR and the school sector.

The Family Counseling consists of Social Counseling and Special Counseling. In Social Counseling, Team 1 and Team 2 work with similar tasks. The primary target group is vulnerable children and young people whose upbringing is affected by social problems. When a child or a young person is also in the target group for disability compensating benefits, the case handling can be kept in Social Counseling to reduce advisor turnover and preserve the holistic social work perspective.

We work according to the Child Act with a clear focus on the involvement and participation of the child and family.

About Team 2

Team 2 consists of engaged social workers who work with children and young people aged 0-23. We are proud of our professionalism and the culture we create together. We help each other in difficult cases, spar openly about professional dilemmas and prioritise collegial togetherness.

With us there is room for both professional discussions and laughter over the coffee cup. We believe that a good work environment contributes to better solutions for children and families, and therefore we expect everyone to participate in the community.

Your tasks

  • Close collaboration with children, young people, parents and networks.
  • Involvement of children and young people through conversations, observations and other relevant methods.
  • Preparation of screenings, assessments and child-related investigations according to the Child Act.
  • Initiation of day and night measures and follow-up on interventions.
  • Prepare recommendations to the Children and Young People Committee.
  • Handling of protection cases in both known and new cases.
  • Create smooth transitions by ensuring a coordinated effort for the youths.
  • Processing applications for disability compensating benefits under the Child Act §§ 86, 87 and 90 and follow-up thereof to a lesser extent.
  • Participation in interdisciplinary collaboration internally in the municipality and with external partners.

We expect that you

  • are a trained social worker
  • have experience from the statutory area or strong motivation to learn the area
  • can collaborate with families and networks as active participants in the solution
  • are good at establishing contact and building trusting relationships with children, young people and their families
  • can work systematically and maintain overview in a daily life with complex and changing tasks
  • actively uses cross-professional collaborators and shares your knowledge with colleagues
  • are proactive, take initiative and contribute constructively to both professionalism, job satisfaction and community.

We look at both your experiences, your motivation and the way you can contribute to the team's professional and social community.

We offer

  • a professionally strong team with good mood, close sparring and camaraderie in the cases
  • dedicated colleagues with different experiences and perspectives
  • a varied workday with influence on task solving
  • a mentor scheme in your introductory period
  • supervision and opportunity for ongoing competence development
  • a close collaboration between the Social Counseling and the Special Counseling as well as with the municipality's executing areas
  • good cross-disciplinary collaborative relationships in Children and Young People and across Labor Market and Social
  • a workplace in a municipality where proximity and knowledge of local collaborators provide good opportunities for coherence in the interventions.
