Church sexton sought at Hedeager Church – a city church in Herning

We are seeking a church caretaker for 32 hours per week with a start date of November 1, or as soon as possible.

The church caretaker's core tasks consist of

• Cleaning of the church and the associated premises, including the Provstikontoret (Provost's Office).
• Practical tasks with preparing for services and other church ceremonies, and subsequent tidying up
• Service in connection with meetings in the church and parish premises, including table setting, coffee making, arranging tables and chairs, and subsequent tidying up
• To sweep leaves and clean gutters and roof surfaces as needed. And to supervise the robotic lawn mowers.
• That you have supervision and inspection of the church buildings, both inside and outside.
• Anti-slip measures as needed.
• Diversity in procurement tasks e.g. coffee, napkins, candles and groceries. Decorating the church and other premises. In addition, ad hoc tasks.
• That you are happy to have an interest in collaborating with the volunteers from the congregation.
• That you will be a part of the church's outward-facing image.

We expect that you

• On your own initiative take responsibility for your tasks, are able to plan and are approachable and service-minded.
• You are positive, have good collaboration skills and work closely with the other staff and volunteers.
• Are flexible and willing to work on weekends, public holidays and to a lesser extent in the evenings.
• Have knowledge of and are loyal to the Folk Church (Folkekirken).
• Will participate in courses and continuing education.
• We prefer that you can provide a car for shopping.
• Likely have experience with, or knowledge of, the church caretaker role.

You will work closely with our other church caretaker, and part of the work will be distributed between you, in agreement with the person responsible for staff. There is a mutual on-call arrangement between the two church caretakers on days off and holidays.

Employment is by the Hedeager Church Parish Council, located at Gl. Kirkevej 33, 7400 Herning.

There is a duty to perform service at other employing authorities in the deanery in accordance with the agreements the parish council has entered into/has entered into with other employing authorities.
