About the job

The Suicide Prevention Clinic continues to expand capacity, so would it be something for you to help make a difference for people with suicidal thoughts and suicidal behavior? And would you like to work in a professionally strong, interdisciplinary environment where treatment, development and professional sparring go hand in hand?

About the Suicide Prevention Clinic

The Suicide Prevention Clinic is a specialized treatment offering under Psychiatry in Region Zealand. We have clinics in Greve, Vordingborg and Slagelse and receive patients from across the region.

We offer treatment to adults with persistent suicidal thoughts and/or suicide attempts, who typically find themselves in a life crisis or have developed stress reactions. The target group is primarily people where suicidal thoughts are not part of a severe psychiatric disorder.

We also offer therapeutic treatment to relatives and bereaved after suicide.

Our task is to meet people in often acute and difficult life situations and together with them create understanding, hope and concrete ways forward.

Workplace

You will become part of a single unit across the clinics in Greve, Vordingborg and Slagelse with psychologists and other professional groups who collaborate closely on the task.

The two positions are expected to be allocated as follows

A psychologist for a one-year maternity leave cover with primary function in Greve and a psychologist for a permanent position with primary function in Slagelse and Greve. Working hours can be negotiated, but as a rule the positions are full-time.

The treatment primarily takes place through in-person visits, but video consultations are also part of our offering.

Your professional task

As a psychologist you will be a central part of the treatment work. You will have the opportunity to conduct independent treatment courses as well as participate in close interdisciplinary collaboration.

Your tasks will include, among others

  • psychotherapeutic conversations focusing on suicidal thoughts and suicidal behavior
  • initial conversations and assessment of the patient’s current mental state and suicide risk
  • development and use of crisis plans as part of the treatment
  • documentation and professional records
  • collaboration with physicians and other professional groups on assessment and treatment plan
  • conversations with relatives and bereaved

The treatment is planned as shorter therapeutic courses, where the patient is typically offered up to eight sessions over 2–3 months.

Your profile

You are a trained psychologist and have an interest in suicide prevention, psychotherapy and psychopathology.

It is an advantage if you

  • have psychotherapy education or experience — it could be in the form of a cognitive framework, for example CFT (compassion-focused therapy) or similar, but not essential
  • work recovery-oriented and promote hope and the possibility of recovery
  • have experience from psychiatry or other clinical practice
  • have experience with assessing suicide risk
  • have experience with shorter therapeutic courses
  • are licensed or on the way to authorization

We do not expect you to tick all the boxes.

We value professional curiosity, reflection and the desire to develop together with others. You should be able to work independently and at the same time thrive in an environment where we use each other actively. We expect you to participate constructively in interdisciplinary discussions, ask for sparring when relevant, and contribute with your own professional expertise.

With us you get

  • a workplace with specialized professional focus on suicide prevention
  • opportunity to closely follow patients through shorter, focused treatment courses
  • regular supervision and possibilities for both internal and external professional sparring
  • close interdisciplinary collaboration with psychologists, doctors, nurses, social workers and medical secretaries
  • a work environment where professional competency, collaboration and good collegiality are highly valued

We work in a structured way and have well-established workflows around intake, treatment and follow-up. At the same time there is room for professional reflection and to develop our practice.
