About the job
Do you have ice in your veins when everything is on fire and citizens, politicians and employees expect that there is quick, correct and actionable communication? Can you navigate a complex organization where you never know what awaits when you start, and where you have to juggle being a competent adviser and a sharp writer?
Then we may have the right position for you in East Jutland Police.
We are a police district that attracts a lot of attention, and where the phones glow hot both at our communications office and with colleagues in the control room and in 114. At the same time, we are currently working on a new local communications strategy, and we want to improve our ability to handle both daily operations and, at the same time, develop ourselves. Therefore we are now looking for an extra employee for our small unit.
We are looking for a strategically anchored communications adviser who can provide sparring and guidance to the managers in East Jutland Police when there is a need to find the right messages for the right audience.
At the same time, you must be able to produce articles for our intranet, draft press releases and the 24/7 report, and deliver content for our Facebook profile. All based on both the national and the local communications strategy.
We imagine that you have a communications or journalism education, that you have political sense, and that you have experience as a adviser to the leadership in an organization or company.
It is important to us that you can approach tasks analytically, and that you understand what it means to work in a politically governed organization where you are the one who has to lay the communication plans and help prepare the leaders before they step in front of the camera or their employees.
You must be able to see yourself in an organization that strives to communicate as openly as possible to citizens, but where there will also be considerations for investigations and involved parties that must be balanced.
What can we offer
- An exciting workplace with an important societal function
- A professionally developing environment where sparring is available daily
- A job where no two workdays are the same, and where the tasks span a broad range
- A relatively flexible work environment, where the mood is high and the sense of community is strong
- Close contact with the management and great influence on your own daily life and the district’s communications
Your tasks
In East Jutland Police’s communications section we handle both daily press management, internal communication about big and small, leadership support, sparring and advisory across the organization and information to citizens via posts on social media.
You will provide daily sparring and advice to the leaders on internal and external communication, and you will help with communications in police internal projects. You will find and write the good stories about everyday life in East Jutland Police, and ensure that employees are well equipped with knowledge about what is important in their daily lives.
You will also need to write daily reports and press releases, and you will play an important role when things are burning in the real world, and there is a need for good and rapid communication to citizens and the press.
The position requires that you
- Have an eye for both strategic, organizational and political angles on communication and can handle confidential information
- Can develop a communications plan and write a speech brief
- Quickly can grasp complicated cases and subject areas
- Have a sharp pen and are fast on the keyboard
- Can move across the full spectrum from strategic advising on serious cases to today’s cafeteria menu
- Can work independently, but at the same time is a team player who, professionally and socially, thinks about the needs of the community
Who are we?
Together with you, we are five communications advisers in the Communications Section, including a subject manager. We are an office where it is often busy with many phone calls and emails, and where there is a large flow of managers and employees who need our assistance.
With us you get a daily life that is unpredictable, challenging and exciting, and where there are rarely two days that are the same. We also have a number of good colleagues in the Leadership Secretariat, whom we report to for management purposes.
East Jutland Police has a clear communications strategy to be as open as possible to the public. We want citizens to continue to trust us, to do as much good as possible for society, and for employees to thrive and develop at work. This requires that we are conscious of how we collaborate both internally and externally, and how we professionally and proactively communicate about our work. You will work closely with the district’s leadership, and at the same time you will have a very broad contact surface across East Jutland Police.
We are an organization characterized by teamwork, where everyone is ready to help when needed.
We offer a good work and learning environment in an office with high ceilings and plenty of humor – though of varying quality.
In daily operations, it is the office’s subject manager who sets the overall professional direction and prioritizes tasks. You will, however, be very much involved in setting the framework for your own work and have the opportunity to influence communications in East Jutland Police.
Your immediate supervisor will be the secretary to the Leadership Secretariat.
Salary and terms of employment
The position is a full-time position at 37 hours per week.
You will be employed on agreement terms in accordance with the applicable state organizational agreement at any given time, between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Association of Journalists, or according to agreement with Dansk Journalistforbund.
Your workplace will be East Jutland Police, located at Ridderstræde 1, 8000 Aarhus C, but there will be field assignments across the district. Due to the police’s diverse tasks, you should expect tasks that require working outside normal hours.
It is a condition of employment that you can obtain a security clearance and that this clearance can be maintained throughout your employment.
Start date as soon as possible.
