About the job
A schedule that doesn’t add up. A payslip that looks wrong. A political decision that changes everyday life at work.
For some, they are small stories. For our users it can be the whole difference.
FOA’s trade magazine is seeking a content editor who will develop journalism anchored in members’ working lives. You should be able to find the stories that deserve attention, sharpen them and help get them out to the people they concern. On fagbladetfoa.dk, in the inbox, on social media and in the ears.
You know that good trade magazine journalism starts by understanding its audience. What do readers need to know? What do they wonder about? And which questions are not asked on their behalf?
We are seeking a content editor who can strengthen FOA’s magazine relevance for both members and those who could become members. Someone with high journalistic ambitions and the ability to translate them into clear priorities and concrete feedback.
You think beyond the publish button
A good story must also find its audience. Therefore you must understand digital journalism and be able to think content, format and distribution together from the start.
When does the story call for fast news? When should we go in-depth? What can a story on social media or an audio report add? FOA’s trade magazine is 100 percent digital, and we thrive on experimenting, so the content finds the form and format that best reaches our members and potential members.
You don’t need to be able to produce everything yourself. But you must understand the platforms’ possibilities and be able to develop journalism together with colleagues who work with different formats. And you must be curious about what readers actually use, so their response and our data become part of the editorial decisions.
What you will be involved in
- Develop and prioritize news with clear relevance for FOA’s members and potential members.
- Sharpen angles, headlines and stories through sparring and editing.
- Launch stories and follow them through to the end together with the editorial team’s journalists.
- Develop the interplay between digital trade magazine journalism, social media and audio.
- Use users’ input, experiences and behavior to make journalism better.
We would like to hear from you if you
- have solid journalistic experience and a confident editorial eye. Maybe you are already an editor. Maybe you are an experienced journalist who is ready to take greater responsibility for others’ work.
- can give feedback that both improves the story and helps the colleague forward. You can prioritise when ideas are more than hours. And you dare ask the extra question, even when the answer is troublesome.
- are keen to learn FOA’s profession and agreements – and respect the people whose everyday lives we cover. You don’t need to know them all in advance.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions are agreed in accordance with the applicable internal collective agreement with the possibility of negotiating individual supplements based on qualifications. In addition, there is an employer-paid pension scheme of 15%, a holiday allowance of 3% and a flex allowance of 4%. We accrue seven weeks of holidays after one year of employment, have a massage scheme, a fitness basement and various staff associations.
In addition, there are good opportunities for ongoing continuing education.
The place of employment is Staunings Plads 1-3, 1607 Copenhagen V.
Drop the application. Show us your editorial eye.
Submit your CV, and choose one story from fagbladetfoa.dk. Tell us who it is relevant for, what concrete change you would propose, and how you would follow it up journalistically.
You have up to 250 words. Remember the link to the story.
You do not, therefore, have to create a traditional application. We are curious about your journalistic thinking, and why you prioritise as you do.
If you have relevant questions, you are welcome to send an SMS to the editor-in-chief Josephine Vedel at 5053 0193 or editor-in-chief Casper Dall at 2720 9312. You will be contacted when possible.
Application deadline is 9 November at 12:00, but feel free to send your application earlier.
