About the job

Will you be part of developing and maintaining the physical framework that supports students' learning and well-being?

AARHUS TECH is seeking a dedicated and structured building designer who can translate the organisation's needs into well-functioning construction and civil engineering projects.

As a building designer you will have a central professional and technical role in the Building Department. You will work with planning, scheduling, coordination and professional follow-up on construction tasks across AARHUS TECH's addresses.

At AARHUS TECH, students' learning and well-being are our core task. The Building Department contributes to this task by creating good, safe and functional settings for teaching, activities and daily life at the school.

About the job

As a building designer you report to the building manager and become part of the Building Department. You will have a professional and technical project function with responsibility for planning, coordination and follow-up on various construction and civil engineering tasks.

You will follow projects from the initial idea and needs clarification to completion and handover. You will work closely with the building manager, project and operations manager, the Building Department's other employees as well as internal and external partners.

You will among other things work with

  • planning, design and coordination of construction and civil engineering tasks
  • preparation and qualification of project materials
  • preparation of drawings, descriptions and timelines
  • structure of project processes and activities
  • coordination of internal and external actors
  • planning of works in relation to the school's operations and activities
  • follow-up on project progress
  • follow-up on finances, quality, working environment and safety
  • handling and dissemination of issues affecting project execution
  • contribution to tendering, solicitation and evaluation of offers
  • professional dialogue with consultants, contractors and suppliers
  • registration and follow-up on errors, defects, deviations and risks
  • contribution to proper completion and relevant project documentation
  • ongoing communication with internal users and other stakeholders

Operations and maintenance

As a building designer you also contribute to the ongoing follow-up on AARHUS TECH's buildings. You support the building manager and project and operations manager in assessing the condition of the buildings and the need for maintenance.

This includes among other things

  • professional assessments of construction and maintenance tasks
  • contribution to decision basis and prioritisation of tasks
  • follow-up on the condition of the buildings and maintenance needs
  • collaboration with the project and operations manager on the link between operations and projects
  • contribution to status, reporting and documentation
  • participation in developing and optimising workflows in the Building Department
  • coordination with operations and school activities to ensure construction work is carried out with minimal disruption

Collaboration and project coordination

You will have a broad contact surface and must be able to drive progress through good dialogue and clear coordination. In your projects you will collaborate with among others:

  • the building manager
  • the project and operations manager
  • the coordinator
  • the carpenter and the school attendants
  • internal users and departments at AARHUS TECH
  • external consultants, contractors and suppliers
  • relevant occupational safety functions

You must be able to identify challenges and risks, ensure that relevant issues are clarified, and follow up tasks to the finish. Substantial decisions, changes in project conditions or issues with financial or organisational consequences are handled in dialogue with the building manager.

We imagine that you

  • are a trained building designer
  • have experience with design, construction management or project coordination
  • have experience with preparing drawings, descriptions and project materials
  • understand building processes from concept to delivery
  • have knowledge of tendering, solicitation and contract management
  • have an understanding of economics, budget monitoring and financial risks in projects
  • have an eye for quality, progress, working environment and safety

•

  • can collaborate with both technical professionals, users and external partners
  • communicate clearly and constructively
  • can keep an overview when several projects and tasks run concurrently
  • thrive with both independent responsibility and close collaboration

It is an advantage if you have experience with operation and maintenance of buildings or with projects in a larger organisation. However, it is not a requirement, as the most important is that you are interested in the area and want to work with operation and maintenance of AARHUS TECH's buildings.

We offer

  • A central professional role in a new and ambitious organisation of the Building Department
  • A varied position with design, coordination, operation and maintenance
  • Opportunity to influence the development of AARHUS TECH's buildings and physical framework
  • A close collaboration with the building manager and the Building Department's other employees
  • An workplace where students' learning and well-being is the core task
  • Opportunity to contribute to good, safe and functional settings for teaching and school life
  • A position with extensive contact with internal users, advisors, contractors and suppliers
  • An professional environment focused on collaboration, quality and ongoing development
