Consultant for local business development

The business sector in Lemvig Municipality is home to significant strong positions with noticeable growth in green energy transition, maritime industries and tourism. There is an important development of the next generation of classic industries such as manufacturing, agriculture and fishing.

The municipality's business community is furthermore in the midst of a huge change, where chemical production at FMC Rønland (formerly Cheminova) is to be replaced by new industrial purposes, e.g. heavy industry or defense industry. There are hardly any more exciting economic policy positions than the ones Lemvig Municipality currently offers. There are strong business potentials, and there are large and challenging challenges.

The political leadership of Lemvig Municipality places great emphasis on close cross-department collaboration to give the municipality's companies the best possible interaction. Our businesses are the driving force in developing the municipality and creating the jobs that are needed to strengthen population retention.

We are looking for a candidate who has the competences, experiences and drive to develop an inspiring collaboration with the municipality's businesses. The focus is on potentials and development opportunities that can create growth and strengthen the competitiveness of existing and new companies. You will play a central and important role together with our new development manager to bring colleagues across the municipality together and ensure a good and holistic collaboration between businesses and the municipality.

As a consultant for local business development you will be part of the Development Unit for Business and Growth. You will report to our new development manager, and together with two new colleagues you will build our new development unit. The development manager reports to the head of Job and Citizen Services Lene Nørlund and the municipal director Søren Søndergaard Kjær.

Main tasks are

• Proactive dialogues, guidance and sparring with businesses and entrepreneurs
• Business development, bridging to the assistance that businesses need in terms of operations/development, guidance on starting a business, referral to business passport, entrepreneurship courses, etc.
• Inspiration for development (inspiring companies to be ready for the next development step, communication about new knowledge/funding/policies, hold proactive dialogues on current themes, and organize inspiration meetings
• Contribute to creating stronger business communication and visibility through newsletters, website and SoMe – channels
• Conduct company visits and engage in dialogue with leaders and decision-makers regarding their business development and ensure referrals to the municipality's other departments and the specialized business services managed by Erhvervshus Midtjylland

A large part of your time will take place with the companies, where you through dialogue and company visits gain relationships and insight into their situation and contribute to identifying development opportunities.

We do not expect you to be an expert in everything. Instead you should be able to see the opportunities, ask the relevant questions and ensure that the companies get access to the right sparring and the right offers.

Who are you?

Your background may be shaped by having been self-employed yourself or by previously working with business guidance. But the most important is that you:

• Have a strong interest in getting to know the challenges of companies and help them move forward with the right business service offerings
• Are good at building relationships, and can create trust and credibility in dialogue with entrepreneurs, company leaders, actors and partners
• Work independently and take pride in ensuring good business service, where you are a proactive partner for the companies
• Have strong communication and collaboration skills, which you naturally bring into play as part of your work and which can motivate and inspire

It does not matter whether you come from the business development system, a private company or a consultancy function. The most important is that you have business understanding and are motivated by creating value for the companies and the area.
