CONTACT PERSON FOR A WOMAN WITH REDUCED VISION AND HEARING – HOLSTEBRO

Are you looking for a small, but exciting job, and do you thrive on making a big difference for another person, then this job might be for you.

On behalf of Holstebro Municipality we are seeking a contact person for a woman in her 80s with combined vision and hearing loss. Communication with her takes place through clear and direct speech.

The woman lives in her own home. The work will take place both inside and outside the woman's home.

The position is in principle four hours per week, scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 12:00. However you must be flexible and be able, by agreement, to extend the two hours or move them to another day if needed.

In addition, the woman has been allocated a pool of hours that can be used for, for example, multi-day courses.

Tasks

Your overarching task as the contact person is to 'function as the eyes and ears' for the woman in situations where her sight and hearing are no longer sufficient.

The tasks will take place both in and outside the woman’s home and include, among other things, accompanying, describing the surroundings where you move about (visual description) and supporting communication as needed, including for example

• walks and shopping
• reading and sorting mail
• conversation and games
• contact with public authorities
• courses.

You should expect that there may be multi-day courses, which include overnight stays.

If you are not familiar with accompanying or visual description in advance, we will teach you.

Before you begin work as a contact person, you must complete an e-learning course (total approx. 2.5 hours), which provides a good introduction to the job. This training takes place at home on your own computer, and you are paid for it.

You will subsequently receive ongoing instruction and supervision from CFD’s deaf-blind consultants, where you will also be able to meet other contact persons. This is also paid.

• be robust and flexible
• speak clear and understandable Danish
• be good at communicating and describing what you see – or be willing to learn it.

You will be employed by Holstebro Municipality and paid at salary grade 11.
