CONTACT PERSON FOR AN ELDERLY MAN WITH IMPAIRED VISION AND HEARING – RISSKOV

CFD Rådgivning is seeking for Aarhus Municipality a contact person for a 75-year-old man with reduced vision and hearing, who lives in his own home in Risskov. You communicate with the man using clear and direct speech.

The man has PTSD, but is motivated for life and would like to go out to have good experiences in and around Aarhus.

The position is eight hours per week, primarily during daytime on Tuesdays from 11-15 and on Thursdays in odd weeks from 9-13 and in even weeks 12-16.

There may occasionally be work in the evenings, and there may be a need for assistance of up to 50 additional hours per year. This is agreed in good time in advance.

Work tasks

In your collaboration you should essentially function as the man's eyes and ears.

The tasks take place both inside and outside the home, but primarily consist of companionship, description of the surroundings (visual description) and support in communication in connection with

• walks outside the house
• activities in the Danish Association of the Blind
• cinema trips
• social activities – e.g., billiards
• concerts.

There may also be reading aloud, conversations about current events and other activities in the home.

The man moves about with a white cane. You will receive a thorough introduction to escorting, description of sight, and your other tasks from the deaf-blind consultant and the man himself. You will also subsequently be offered instruction and supervision.

Before you begin the work, you must complete an e-learning course (totaling about 2.5 hours), which provides an additional introduction to the job. This training takes place at home on your own computer, and you will be paid for it. As a contact person you will also be invited to participate in paid course days, where you will also meet other contact persons.

About you

To fit well with the position you should

• be positive, calm, trustworthy and smiling
• be good at conveying and describing what you see – or be willing to learn it
• speak clear and articulate Danish
• be willing to receive instruction and supervision from the assigned deaf-blind consultant
• have a normal driving license – the man has a car.

This is hourly paid work and the specific terms of employment are agreed with Aarhus Municipality, which is the employer. You will as a rule be placed at salary grade 11.
