About the job
Are you a visual storyteller who knows what it takes to grab attention in a crowded feed? Can you spot what engages a target audience and translate it into content that makes people pause, watch, and become wiser?
Do you have a journalistic nose for a good angle and the ability to create stories that both spark curiosity and feel relevant to those you communicate with? And can you distill complex knowledge to core, so it becomes engaging narratives with meaning, relevance and wow-value for the general public?
Nod your head if you’re saying “yes” right now? Then maybe it’s you we’re looking for!
At the Faculty of Natural Sciences we work every day to make natural science approachable, relevant and fascinating for many different audiences. At one of the world’s leading research institutions there are a wealth of stories about the people who study, research and work with natural science. Stories about everything from discoveries that sprout in the laboratories, and new knowledge about distant galaxies to the breakthroughs happening deep inside AI’s engine room.
Therefore we are looking for you who can spot the stories with the greatest relevance for young people who are about to choose a degree, and tell them in ways that create attention, curiosity and engagement. You can translate complex topics into sharp, visual content that makes an impression.
At the same time you dare to challenge conventional thinking, develop new formats and choose the right channels, so the stories reach the public and prospective students with as much impact as possible.
Responsibilities
As our new Content Specialist you will be part of our communications and recruitment team at the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Your primary task will be to strengthen awareness of natural science and our education programs here at Aarhus University among the public and especially prospective students. Therefore, a large part of your time will go to touring our institutes and locations, where you seek out, document and tell stories from the 'field'.
You will be close to the researchers, the research, the students, the graduates, etc. For most of 2027 your role will be twofold. In addition to content production, you will also contribute to the faculty’s other recruitment efforts.
You must be comfortable producing a quick SoMe video, creating a meme or taking photos at an event. You are the one with the content boldness and the responsibility to coordinate the social media efforts and in connection with events, research expeditions and activities.
To succeed in the position it is important that you can build and maintain good relationships with both students, researchers, teachers, management and internal partners across the university.
Ideally you have
At least two years of experience with content production for web and SoMe. Please show us in your application examples of the work you are most proud of.
Experience with video editing, animation design and/or 2D animation with
tools from the Adobe toolbox and Canva.
A creative mind and an effective communicator with finesse for balancing internal and external interests in a complex organization.
Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams.
A relevant higher education degree in communications or marketing, but honestly we are most interested in what you can do creatively and practically.
Who are we?
You will join a professional community and collaborate with the faculty’s communications unit, which consists of 10 employees. The department serves the dean’s office and the institutes, among other things in terms of communication, campaign development and execution as well as press advisory. The Faculty of Natural Sciences consists of seven institutes, a PhD school and a number of larger and smaller research centers. We host about 3,300 students and 1,400 staff.
You will become part of the faculty secretariat, which consists of about 20 employees with different professional backgrounds and tasks, and where we collaborate with the dean, pro-deans, researchers, companies, study and career counselors and, not least, students.
