About the job

Does your professional interest lie at the intersection of sports technology and project management, and would you like to work to create results that can truly be felt? Then you now have the chance to get on board what we ourselves consider Denmark's most exciting projects within construction and infrastructure. Projects that affect society and that will be there for many generations to come.

We are seeking a design lead to take responsibility for sport technology, both in internal and external design. We work with the big budgets, which you transform into solutions together with some of the most skilled specialists in your field. You are thus involved in developing the future sustainable railway and ensuring good conditions for hundreds of thousands of Danes to take the train every day.

“The coolest thing about the job is that you can satisfy your interest in project management while also delving into the technicalities. You become a kind of sport-technical octopus, and it’s actually a lot of fun!” - Team Leader Nikolaj Thoustrup Kofod.

Design management where you are involved from the earliest phases before execution

You will join the team responsible for design management. We are part of the Design & Standards area in Banedanmark’s Construction Division, focusing on both internal and external advisory and design services. Our development journey continues, and you will have the opportunity to contribute constructively to its future direction.

As a design lead, you will be the technical lead for the sport-technical deliverable on the client side. You will follow the delivery from the early project phases through to execution and work closely with consultants, contractors and the project’s other disciplines. You plan and follow up on the deliverables, manage technical and organizational interfaces, and ensure that standards, regulations, authorities’ requirements and schedules are adhered to.

You will have the opportunity to expand your competencies within the sport-technical disciplines, including track geometry, clear-area profiles, switch points, track jumpers and welds. At the same time, you are expected to translate your previous design or construction experience into working with standards, deliverables, procurement materials, bid evaluation, design basis and planning of ballast boreholes. You will receive technical sparring from our internal in-house design team and our senior design leads, but you will drive your agreed deliverables forward yourself.

Your main tasks will include the following

  • Be the technical lead for sport technology both in internal and external design of projects of varying size.
  • Ensure and maintain progress in the design process from start to finish.
  • Coordinate interfaces with the railway’s other disciplines.
  • Procure client-delivered items such as rails, sleepers and switches, etc.
  • Contribute to the preparation of design boundary notes and phase reports.
  • Review consultants’ services in detailed design.

About you

We imagine that you have a technical education, e.g., engineer in construction and civil engineering or a building constructor. You have experience from working with infrastructure, technical facilities or related projects where you have contributed to design, coordination or technical deliveries. The most important is that you want to build on your experience and develop yourself within track and rail.

It is advantageous if you have experience with one or more of the following areas

  • Design, design management or coordination of technical deliverables
  • Rail, road or other complex infrastructure and construction projects
  • Use of MicroStation or similar design tools in technical construction or infrastructure projects

You also have experience with planning and following up on technical deliverables in complex projects and can work in a structured way with risks, priorities and quality assurance. You can collaborate across disciplines and communicate clearly with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders about technical deliverables and interfaces.

What do we offer?

You will become part of the Department of Track & Cross-Functional Design Management, where you will work with skilled colleagues. Here you can look forward to being part of a positive environment where the motivation to support each other is as strong as the belief that when we have fun and get along, we automatically create better results.

We believe that motivated employees create the best results. Therefore we prioritize both your professional development and well-being. We give you flexibility in daily work so you can plan your tasks in the way that works best for you.

You will work centrally in Copenhagen close to Fisketorvet and Dybbølsbro Station, with good parking options for both cars and bikes. In addition, we offer a communal canteen, fruit scheme, cafe and gym so everyday life becomes both easy and inspiring.

Your future workplace is primarily Banedanmark’s headquarters close to Dybbølsbro Station. Travel in connection with line reviews, inspections or visits to other sites may occur.

Salary and terms of employment

You will be employed under the currently applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic associations for academics in the state.

You will be placed based on academic seniority and experience as a consultant at the base level in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, which you can find here and the Employee and Competence Agency’s salary overview, which you can find here.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies there is potential for the negotiation of allowances. There will be an employer-funded pension scheme at 18.07%.
