District Manager sought for Roads and Parks in Varde Municipality

Does the Jutland west coast sound like something for you? You cannot avoid the North Sea when you are in West Jutland. Here there is plenty of sky, magnificent nature and room for both development and new thinking.

Right now, Roads and Parks is looking for a district leadership colleague who, together with the leadership team, will help to maintain, develop, and future-proof the Municipality of Varde's green areas, parks, natural areas and road maintenance. We work purposefully with biodiversity, sustainability and climate adaptation, and we want a leader who both has a view to the quality of operations and the development of the municipality's green areas.

In other words, it is neither a small nor an easy task – but it is important, and you will have a strong collaboration with three leadership colleagues and about 80 dedicated employees.

About us

We are Denmark's 5th largest municipality geographically. We have about 1,600 km of roads, 175 km of cycle paths, 40 km of beach and 950 km of waterways, many parks and green areas as well as 80 hectares of sports fields. In the department, we are about 75 employees who every day work to create attractive and well-functioning surroundings for the benefit of both residents and tourists.

Some of the exciting tasks awaiting

The job includes professional and personnel management of about 20 employees and responsibility for the daily operational tasks within both road and green areas.

Your tasks will include

• Responsibility for District 1, which is the western part of the Municipality of Varde, with towns such as Henne Strand, Outrup, Nørre Nebel and Nymindegab
• Daily personnel management of the employees, including planning, ensuring a good working environment, competence development, and performance interviews (MUS)
• Planning and management of operations and maintenance tasks within green maintenance, road maintenance and nature management
• Work on developing green areas, biodiversity and sustainable operating methods
• Collaboration with landowner associations, local councils, institutions and other partners
• Use of IT systems (e.g., WebGIS, Driftweb, KMD, LER and Safetynet)
• Participation as central guard in winter service and planning thereof

We are seeking a leader who both has an eye for traditional operations and at the same time is enthusiastic about developing the municipality's green and asphalt areas.

• Have a relevant educational or practical background – for example within construction work, forestry and landscape or similar
• Have experience with the operation and maintenance of green areas and road maintenance
• Have leadership experience and can lead through dialogue, trust and inclusion
• Are visible and present in everyday life – both in the field and as a leader from distance
• Have good collaboration skills and can build relations across the organization
• Prioritize the working environment and wellbeing as an important part of daily work
