Functional Manager for Logistics Services at OUH Svendborg and Nyborg Hospital – porter service

Do you want to lead an experienced team and create the framework for employees to succeed together?

We are seeking a functional head for the Logistics Department, Logistics Service, who will have overall responsibility for personnel management of about 40 porters at OUH Svendborg and Nyborg Hospital.

You will lead an experienced team with a good culture and well-functioning collaboration. Your main task will be to create clear direction, support employees' well-being and professional development, and build on the strengths already present in the porter function.

We imagine that you have solid leadership experience, preferably from an operation-intensive organization where personnel management and collaboration are crucial for success.

About the position

As functional head of the porter function you will become part of an engaged management team in Logistics Service. You will get:

• People responsibility for about 40 porters.
• A deputy, several internship supervisors and a professional shift planner to support the task execution.
• Close collaboration with two other functional heads and the section manager for Logistics Service.
• Permanent place in the section's management team, where you together work with priorities, economy, operation and development.
• Ongoing 1:1 meetings with the section manager about your leadership task and the function's results.

You report to the section manager of Logistics Service in the Logistics Department.

Porter function – your everyday life and your area of responsibility

The porters resolve a wide range of tasks that support patient treatment and the hospitals' daily operations. Tasks include among others:

• Transport, repositioning, laying down and mobilization of patients as well as support for patients' rehabilitation.
• Transport of samples from GP practices and between Funen hospitals.
• Tasks related to trauma and cardiac arrest.
• Transport of clothing, food, medicine and treatment instruments as well as waste management.

As functional head you are responsible for ensuring that the function has the right frames and competencies to solve the tasks safely and effectively with the patient first. Coordinators and a shift planner support the daily operations. Your primary task is therefore to ensure clear personnel management, create good conditions for employees and set the direction for the function's continued development.

Your main tasks

You shall primarily

• Exercise clear and presence-based personnel leadership with focus on well-being, working environment and competency development.
• Actively involve employees and create frameworks for their experience, professionalism and ideas to be translated into good solutions.
• Contribute to recruitment and retention of employees and ensure that the function has the right competencies.
• Identify and realize improvement opportunities based on employees' knowledge, data and the Southern Denmark Improvement Model.
• Ensure that the function's tasks are organized and staffed appropriately in close collaboration with coordinators and a shift planner.
• Make necessary operational decisions within the financial framework in collaboration with the section manager.

Special tasks in the first year

In the first year you will have the opportunity to contribute to two larger tasks

Conversion of Nyborg Hospital

You actively participate in the renovation and contribute to the porter function's tasks and workflows being integrated into the new physical frames.

General plan for Svendborg Hospital

You familiarize yourself with the upcoming general plan and contribute to translating it into concrete logistics and porter solutions.

At the same time you should further develop the porter function with respect for what the team already succeeds at. It’s about preserving the good culture and the psychological safety and together with the employees find the improvements that provide the greatest value in everyday life. Data, board meetings and the Southern Denmark Improvement Model are used as tools in the work.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms follow the current collective agreement between Danske Regioner and the relevant professional organization. The position is expected to be placed according to the collective agreement for leading service and care personnel, 32.12.1. The final placement will be clarified before publication.
